Wow......things happen fast, at least in the testing arena.
yesterday while testing my Eagletree V3 with a brushless sensor (nearly pulled my hair out too) with 2 different motors, i inadvertantly ran my 1800mah 3S pack down to 3.15 volts per cell...........charging it back up showed that it took 1626mah to fill up again.
with all the testing and switching back and forth with the motors to get the (defective sensor) rpm readings working, i hadn't paid attention to how much juice i had pulled out of the pack.
the drain was intermittent, so should i worry about this battery as being ruined?

oh and it is new and has only had 4 charges through it from being run using 40% each time.

Heh, I did the same today with my 6cell pack, got down to 3.15V. Not funny. I did start charging at 1/5C because I know the cells get quite unbalanced when squeezing the volts out the LiPo-pack. I noticed 2 cells which hade about 0.13V more in compare with the other cells. I know that these cells are not in as great shape as the other ones. In my battery-manual it reads that you should not go below 3.0V. I guess I went below when I the cells was loaded when flying. I wonder the same thing as summerwind.

Different brands of cells can tolerate low voltages to different extents.

Basically, it is probably OK depending on a lot of other factors like how hot it got, how many amps you were drawing when you took it that low and other things. Watch it closely on the next 5 or so cycles, it is probably OK. If you get fast voltage drop during a flight land immediately so you don't strain your ESC and Motor if it puffs in flight. Be careful to check the balance between cells on the next few charges. If there is a big imbalance lower your charge rate to make it easier on the pack. I doub't you hurt it though, it is most likely fine.

thx for the reply and info William.
the drain on the battery was through several test sessions, and i never did get it hot.
i am using the Bantam BC6-10 charger and charge in "balance" mode...........i did balance the pack before putting it back on charge.
i'm really hooked on the electrics that i've gone all out and bought all kinds of support gadgets.
funny, i was a hard core gas flyer for years, but being able to park and fly wherever i want almost all the time has made electric a believer out of me.

thx for you help

Your lipo should be alright. How's the Reactor Bipe? Did you get it flying yet? I go by the handle Jesztir on RCGroups. Good to see you over here too.

it's ready for all the electronis to be installed.
just got some of my Eagletree stuff and have been playing around with that........i want to use on board recorder to see what tuning i need to do and how it reacts.
i had no idea of how much the electric technology has come in these past few years and am really having a lot more fun with it than flying gas.
as soon as i get her going i'll PM you.
my next project is a Heli, but i'm not sure which one i want yet.

You probably did not ruin the pack, but you did hurt it. It may have a bit less capacity, or a bit shorter life. Just fly it and try not to do it again.
