View Full Version : improving flip rate?

I just started doing flips with my gaui. The gaui seems to drop a lot faster than my trex. I end up dropping 20 feet in a flip, even though I am going pretty far in negative when inverted.

My swash mix is 55,55,55. Pitch curve linear 0,inh,50,inh,100. Throttle 100,85,100.

When I check my pitch I am around -12, 0, +12

Do the plastic blades make a difference? Do they just flex too much for fast flips.

Basically my flip becomes more of a roll, from inverted back to upright.

The heli flips into inverted really nice, but then from inverted back to upright, is when it drops 20-30 feet. There was a about a 5 mph wind, and I was flipping into the wind.

Any advice on tight flips would be great.

It's your timing.. I would also bring your v-curve a little closer.. I'd say 100-95-100 or just 100-100-100.. This little bird really doesn't need much of a v-curve unless you like doing pitch pumps...

Thanks,

I guess I need to work on my timing of collective. My trex 450 seems to flip a little faster.

I am sure I am applying too much negative because I am afraid of it falling. I think I just need a little negative, then right back to neutral when vertical, then back to positve when upright?

On the sim (pheonix) its really easy, compared to my gaui.

if you havent, take the weights off the flybar, wooden blades help as well. oh and 100 all the way across is the hot setup.

what everyone is saying is true, however, I have mine with the way everyone is suggesting and while it will flip okay, it does not flip like my 450 used to or my 600. If you really want flips, either you have to fly very very very very well (thats not me) or you need a little more motor in this thing.

what are the flybar weights, the bras things next to the flybar paddles? how do you take them off? just unscrew the paddles and they slide off? and by v curve, do yall mean the throttle curve?

Yep, your right about all. The v curve refers to a throttle curve set up in the shape of a v. For example 100(low stick) 90(mid) 100(high) in idle up
