I got JR Z9000S (Same as 8717) they are not cheap and top notch, but so far no problems. Similar to BLS in terms of speed etc but heard it gets more current. Running them at 6V but can go up to 8 if i wanted to.

you can use the DS8717's, but you'll have to modify the frames just a but on one side as they are a smidge too big to bolt straight in (unless you were to partially dismantle the frames and install before-hand). Prices are a bit steep, but they can be found for around $90ea. if you look and have patience. Running 8V voids the warranty on them, but then again, they really aren't bothered by it at all (Pretty much everyone with a .50 size and up runs them on 8V no problem whatsoever). Just make sure you have some kind of voltage regulator on it if you want to keep things on 6V or less. Can't really beat the speed or torque ratings either! They were my first choice and I'm glad I got them!

Try the 94758's. You will love them. They are a simple drop in fit, fast, tough, and stay accurate for a long time.

For that price, you'd be better off going with the 9452's! A few pennies more and you can get yourself some 8717's and run 8V. Good speeds on those 94758 servos though, but low torque.
Another benefit of the 8717's is that you could put them into a 90 size if you decided to go to a bigger bird. Most people do after they've been flying for a while anyways. :)

If you can afford 8717 i can only say...no problem with my (Z9000S same as 8717) so far, which is same. I have them in electro and nitro bird and now in the crazy flybarless setup. No Probs so far on wearing or wiggle stuff. And for the match in the frame there is only one difficult spot, but there is a trick. Remove the backplate of servo move it into frame and put it back on inside. Perfect fit. No file nescessary or further modification.

Same with david vega, I'm using inolab hgd 750 mg at 6 volt, give 13 kg-cm and 0,12 sec for speed. With coreless digitak this servoalways centering well and very durable, I'm using it on knight 3d

8717's are .07 transit with 196oz/in on 6V is very hard to beat. 8V would probably match the Airtronics 94758's in trasit speed of sub-0.6 sec and nearly triple the torque produced. For $10-$20 more per servo, I think it's definately worth it in my book especially seeing I'd eventually like to get either the Odin 90 or the Aurora. Another of the reasonings: It's better to have more power than you need and NOT need it, than to need more power and simply not have it. Unless there's another servo out there that can meet or exceed the 8717 performance-wise, or is even cheaper, I doubt you can beat them.

The SPECIFIC question in this thread was a request for good servos for a Knight 3D, not a 90 class helicopter. I have had no problems with the 94758's in 50's or 90's for the past 5 years. It is true that the 8717's cost about $60 more per set of 3, but that will help buy a nice set of blades. So, save a few bucks and spend the extra on a good quality muffler, blades, painted canopy, or a little more fuel. The Airtronics 94758's are perfectly suited for a 50 class machine. In this application the speed is very welcomed and loads of ridiculous torque are not needed. Sorry, the 94758's are no slouch on torque, either. I recall all the hype of the 9252's being the "bomb" for the fury, tempests, Xspecs, vigors, predators, ect. in recent times. The Knight 50 3D is much smaller than those helicopters.
Having said all of this, I would still respectfully aknowledge of the fantastic speed and torque that the 8717's offer if one chooses that route.

Very well put and duly noted. I do agree that the 8717's are a bit overkill (sometimes even on a 90 too), and they (8717 and 94758's) are both really good servos. I doubt you'd even be dissapointed with the 9252's on 4.8V either. Plenty of torque and reasonably priced (sure is nice to have several choices instead of just one or two). Like anything else though, it all comes down to preference. I'm sure the original person who posted this thread has more than enough recommendations by now!
