Hi..

At this point i have read about 500 threads about heading hold and revo mixing and still donīt get it. Please help me out here..

I have a Mini Titan E325 SE, 401 gyro and a Futaba T7C (2,4 ghz) and i am more or less ready to go inverted, but each time i try the tail freaks out and i have to abort. As long as i dont go in negative pitch the heli behaves nice ( thats in idle up 1+2 )

Should the pitch angel of the tailrotor be in a fixed position at idle up?

Or... should the tail rotor go from a positive % pitch( at head rotor-pitch +10%), down to 0% pitch( at head rotorpitch 0%), back to a positive % pitch ( head rotor-pitch -10%) ?

As you see i am a bit confused.. no joke.

Please, please help me with this one.. i just canīt figure it out.

Thanks :o

If you have a 401 and you have it locked in Heading hold mode(the red light is steady red)it should not matter if you are inverted or not.The tail giving out leads me to believe your head speed is reducing and the tail is losing it's authority.Make sure you have an aerobatic throttle curve. This means in idle up you have 100% throttle at full low -5 to -10 pitch stick and between 70-100% at half and 100% at full high stick. The half stick setting you can play with to your liking.

And just to make sure, there should be NO revo mix set for a heading hold gyro. Revo mix is used with rate gyros ONLY.

If you have setup in revo mix, TAKE IT OUT.

TVaillancourt and Pinecone, thanks alot!

At the moment i have the gyro in HH and it responses to movement correctly, but when i increase the throttle/pitch the tail rotor pitch stays the same ( i guess this is the way it should be and because revo-mixing is INN?)

According to the instruction manual ( Futaba 7C ) the gyro setup for AVCS/ Heading Hold Gyro (GY) should look like this:

GYRO (SW-E)
UP> A 80 ( <- NORMAL )
CT> A 70 ( <- IDLE1 )
DN> A 70 ( <- IDLE2 )

GYRO > ON
SW> E
MODE> GY

Now to the problem, originally the setting where UP> N 50 / CT> N 50 / DN > N 50.
When it was in "N" the tailservo responded as it use to, but when i switched to "A" the servo creepes back very slowly after you change the pitch-angel on the tail (it respondes to movement as it should), is this correct? I doesnīt seem do get back to neutral either.. Lost again :o

Update:

The creep only occures when the Throttle hold is on, so no problem i anymore ( i think? ) . When throttle hold is off there is no creep, but it doesnt go back to neutral position ( i guess thats the way it should be though neutral is when the heli has a stable course and is decided by the gyro, so when HH = no neutral?)

In heading hold the tail will not recenter, as the gyro senses that it hasn't moved.

I tend to run the same gain in all three flight modes, so would run 70, 70 , 70.

Ok, thanks!

Btw. just did my first inverted! But whats really impressive is that i actually managed to get it down in one piece :)

Thanks for your help! The heli behaves really nice exept for some tail wag, take care
