I met a guy at the feild yesterday, that had a century raven 50. He said it has a o.s. hyper 50,a 401 gyro/with a s9254 tail servo. Ds-281 servos on the cyclic, with a torque tube and metal tail, and carbon fiber blades. He said he would sell it to me for 400 dollars,or I could give him a 100 dollars more and he would include a full metal kasama head with a carbsmart. I have never owned a nitro but i have been looking into getting one soon. I don't know a whole lot about century helis and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if i should go for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brandon, I assume you meant "DS-821" on the cyclic servos? Those are NOT suitable for use on a 50 nitro heli. You can see that noted in the tech notes for the servo on JR's site.
That said, that is a fantastic deal! Just put in some better cyclic servos and you'd have a solid 50 size machine that comes standard with many features that are optional on "name brand" 50's.
Let me put it this way: If I had $400 in my pocket and knew where this guy was, I'd buy it! ;)

I don't know yet if I will purchase this heli,or not. My only problem is that I am getting my liscense in 3 weeks, and money is already limited. So it just depends if something was to happen, and I did get it I will let everyone know so I can get help on the heli. I appreciate you all advicing me,but I just got to thinking today, and i'm not so sure, but o well.

Well, Brandon, if that's the case, "share" the name of the person you are "thinking" of getting the heli from so ......well.........maybe, someone else might benefit on the purchase? (Hahahaha)
All kinding aside, I think it is a good deal too.

I just remembered that I have a bunch of nitro trucks I don't run anymore that I am going to sell. I will see if I can maybe sell them, and maybe get the money that way so I can just grab up the heli while it is still for sell, and keep it stored in my room till I can go,and buy a DX7 and some new cyclic servos. By the way what servos would yall recommend to go on the cyclic?

By the way what servos would yall recommend to go on the cyclic? The Futaba 9252 would be an excellent (but somewhat pricey) choice. The Futaba 3050 is a more economical choice and still has dual ball bearings on the output shaft, which is (IMO) a "must have". I'm using the 3050's on my Hawk Pro.

Don't go less then the Futaba S-3050 or more then the BLS-451's <G>
As the aileron servo also acts as the fulcrum for the collective to the swashplate, it is important that you use a dual BB servo there.
As the collective is the function that requires the most torque, put the most powerful on you can their (digital if possible)

We're mixing metaphors now, RAV50, but that's my fault since I mentioned my Hawk. I think he's looking at a Raven, so he'll need three of the same type. ;)

Thank you all for the info. I have got to get some of these trucks sold. The guy said that he would bring the heli to the feild, and fly it for me to show me that it does actually fly. I may get it,atleast I am going to try my hardest. Also I am not sure if it comes with a governer,or not. If it doesnt once again what would yall recommend?

Governors are good to have but IMO, not necessary unless doing some full 3D manuvers. For years, I've used the method of setting up my throttle and pitch curves to match and have had good results.
I do run governors on some of my 3D capable helis. My choice would be the MultiGov from Aerospire. Others will recommend other brands but this is my choice. ;)
