I would like to know if someone can explain the difference between the z230puh and the z231puh. Is there a difference? On the bottom of the motor there's a label that indicated 230, will the 231 be labeled with 231? Why do I ask? I bought one on ebay and it was indicated within an answer to a question to a potential buyer that it was a z231.

The 230puh will look like the fins have been cut off so that the head looks boxy. The z231puh has full fins. The 230puh has two rings and the z231puh has only one. The 230puh has single porting and the z231puh has dual porting.
Of course, the z231puh is the newer, more user friendly and more powerful motor.
There is a label that you describe that will have either on or the other designation.
