I decided that I want to replace my Esky CNC head with a better one and was looking at the xmseller head and also copterx heads. However, I am now thinking that i may as well go for a complete CopterX kit as the price is not that much more than the head alone.
Do you think this is worthwhile or should I just get a new head?
What motor would be best for the CopterX, and what is the difference between the AE and SE versions?
Any comments appreciated. (And yes, I know the EXI is an option but with postage to Uk not so cheap!)

Hi Psilo
I fly the Copterx AE V2 and I am very happy about this kit. A very stable heli.
The difference between AE and SE is that AE is an alu version and the SE is a carbon version.
I prefer the AE version because a I can repair alu, this is not possible with the carbon version.
For the motor and esc I use the scorpion HK-2221-8 V2 with a 11T pinion and the 45A Commander ESC, these give me a hover-time of 8 min with a 2170mA 25C batt.
I've made a small build log (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=75006&highlight=copterx&page=8) about it
Hope this helps a bit

Thanks Erwin, much appreciated. Think the AE is the one I will go for and had thought that the scorpion motor would be the way to go. Will my 35A Castl Creations be man enough for that?

Good choice. You're going to want a frame upgrade later anyway, so might as well get everything up to par in one go. I'm pretty happy with the quality of the CopterX head and tail - if the frame is up to the same standards, you can't go wrong at that price.
The CC Phoenix is a nice ESC, but the Scorpion motor is rated at 45 A max continuous current. Sounds like way too far over spec for your current ESC.
The 45A Commander ESC and HK2221-8 V2 motor would make a great combo, but if you're on a budget a $20 Sonix 3550 kV would work fine with your CC ESC.

Budget not an issue, rather get the best for the job from the get go so Commander it will be. Will probably keep my stock belt but put the CC 35A and UBEC on it then sell the other belt with the cnc head/tail.
Thanks for the input Mika.

Is the BEC a linear mode or switch mode in the Scorpion ESC? In other words do I need to put an UBEC on for my DX7?

Unfortunately it's still linear. Only the 6-cell versions come with a switch mode BEC.

Yeah just looking at the 6 cell version now. May go for that one even though it is double the cost, it will be neater than adding in a ubec as well as the esc.

Well, you can always tell yourself you're saving a few grams by not using an external BEC... But we all know it's the übercool remote programming card that we're willing to pay the extra for :rolling

If budget is no issue then go for the 6cell and you get governor mode, starter booster aswell as a ubec with it
I am afraid I was on a budget :(

So, now awaiting from Hong Kong, CopterX AE450, Scorpion HK2221-8 V2 & Scorpion 6cell 45A ESC (with ubercool remote programming card  ). Gonna have to sell on 1 of the belts as running out of room now (1 x Hirobo shuttle 90, 2 x belt, 1 x CopterX on its way and Lama V4).
Funny, only after getting a better head than the Esky CNC and ended up with CopterX :D
Thanks again for the advice guys.
