Hi everyone

Heard good things about the superframe and fancied myself a project over the coming winter. I want to keep my belt cp and build a new heli from the frame-up. The plan is to gradually add parts, but there's a few questions I'd like to ask.

Pesume its not really worth trying to fit Esky CNC stuff to the frame, perhaps HDX or Copter X. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between the two? What running gear, the recommended HDX or Align? Again, HDX, Copter X or Align tail boom/belt. I have in mind Scorpion motor/ESC, what do you guys think?

Sorry to ask so many question, but outside of Esky I know very little!!

Best regards
Steve

If you can spare $250 in one go, there's a one-day special promotion (http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/the-1250/%28Hot%29-3DX450%28ASE%29-HDX450-SE/Detail) on the full kit right now...

Not a lot of difference between HDX and CopterX - different manufacturers, and HDX is made of a stronger alloy to slightly different dimensions. HDX/3DX has a slight edge in quality, but CopterX is slightly cheaper.

I think the consensus here is that the Scorpion Commander 45A ESC + HK2221-8 V2 motor combo is the stuff to go for. Great quality at a reasonable price.

Like Mika, scorpion all the way (budget permitting).

God dammit, that HDX kit looks the dogs kahoonas. Shame I haven't the money available right now + shipping to the UK + import tax!! Talking of the superframe, they supply CF or G10. What's the better frame, and what spares are good to get in multiple as I don't want to keep shipping stuff from the States to the UK?

Cheers
Steve

You can get spares in the UK from Sportsmoto (http://www.sportsmoto.co.uk/acatalog/Align_T_Rex_450_3DX__450_SE_Compatible_Parts.html) and Blink helicopters (http://www.blinktrading-online.co.uk/helicopter-parts-trex-parts-c-78_59.html). You'll need to stock up on all the usual suspects: flybar rods, feathering shafts, main shafts, blades... And a spare tail boom wouldn't hurt either. T-Rex parts will work, with the possible exception of the feathering shafts.

It's a matter of taste on the G10/CF... I think carbon is slightly lighter and stronger, but G10 has a theoretically reduced chance of radio shadowing or glitches from static electricity.

Thanks for the info Mica. Really, it was spares for the superframe, cos as far as I can see they are only available stateside. Anyone know what's parts would be good to order for spares?

Ah, for the frame only? You're right, looks like those UK shops only stock the B style frames and parts. I can sort of see the battery tray (http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_234_250&products_id=4457) or even side frames (http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_234_250&products_id=4367) getting cracked if you make a big enough impact crater, but there's practically no way to damage the CNC parts.

Suppose, even if I broke a frame part, I'd still have my trusty belt cp to play around with while the parts winged their way from America;) Thanks for the help.
