Hey guys, been flying and crashing since February. Today I snapped off the allen screw that holds on the upper head. It's the same size as the one that holds on the main gear but it's about 1/8" longer. I have about every spare part for this bird except for the frame set. No bag has that screw in it that I can find. I have the replacement screw set of Esky. .. So I'm unable to fly because of it. My LHS isn't really (L) Local.
Where can I find that screw?
Thank you.

Thats weird, it should be the same size as the bottom one. Here is a link for the screw set.

Hi Tom,
Yep, that's the screw set that I have. It's definately a different length on my Belt CP. If I try the same size as the one for the main gear, I can't even barely grab a thread on the nut that's on the other side of the head.

Ok, even the book shows 2 different screws. The top screw(the one I need) is MHH2014. The bottom screw is MHH2012. They are 2mm difference in size. According to the book, it's supposed to come with the main shafts.

Hmm thats stumping me, i just measured the screw on the bottom and the top and they are the same measurement. Do you a have a screw from a main shaft set to try because that should work in the top of the head. I'm not sure what comes in that screw set, but some of those bolts looked right.
My only other suggestion would unfortunately be the hobby shop though. Maybe someone else might have an idea.
edit: just saw your post, yes thats always the spare screw i use when the others strip out. I always assumed they were the same size, guess not ,but there you go problem solved.

Unfortunately I have to drive an hour round trip to buy a 25 cent screw. It's an M2x14mm. I haven't boughten main shafts in a long time. Anytime I bend them, I just chuck them up in the lathe and use a dial indicator to true them up. I can get them straighter than they come factory usually. I would have thought Esky would have put them in the spare screw standby bag. I already checked at my hardware store earlier. Nothing nearly that small.
Thanks Tom.

Yea i've tried the home depot's and lowes, they just don't have that kind of stuff. I'm wondering if radio shack might have something like that. Got one of those closer.

Hi Rotax there are plenty of screw suppliers on the net who will send you a box of them for less than the price of a 2 hr car journey may be worth a browse?
You can also straighten main shafts by tapping them down to a flat surface with a soft faced hammer untill no light shines underneath.
The screws do wear out if you dont change them when you straghten the main shaft though.

Tom maybe its because you have the metal head.
I have the plastic head and mine also has one longer than the other.

Na, i think i just happened to have the bottom screw from a main shaft set in the upper head assembly on my plastic head. Thats the head i was looking at, not my hdx head. I never noticed the original screw being shorter as i probably changed it out a while ago.

Try the hardware stores. I get most of the screws for cheaper from the local hardware shop

Update: Even more confused.
I just got my order today from JAG. The book said the M2x14mm upper head screw is contained within the main shaft set bag. Well the one in the bag is a 12mm! The
book said there is only one M2x14mm to the whole heli. So where do you guys
get this 14mm screw when you need to replace it? My LHS which is a pretty big
store doesn't carry anything like either. Neither does Tower Hobbies. My LHS does
carry a M2.5x15mm but then I would have to drill that holes out and that would be
rediculous. Having to make sure it's straight, not letting it heat up during drilling and
causing it to warp, etc.. I shouldn't have to do that. What's the deal with Esky?
Somebody here has had to of changed that screw before. Trust me, the 12mm will not work.
Thanks.

I get mine from my local Hardware Hank.
When I get back home I'll see if I have one in my parts box.

I just now seen that tower hobbies carries a 2x15mm which I don't think will hurt any. As long as it doesn't hit on the control rod. I can always grind it a bit. I'm going to order from them since I need some spare servo gears for my 3114's. It would be nice if Esky could actually include this screw in at least one parts bag.
The screws that hold the tail fin on will work but I wouldn't stress TEMPORARY ONLY. They are pretty weak for a head screw. I snapped one off in a slight crash.
Thanks. I see you're from St. Paul, MN.... I'm somewhat close to Eau Claire.

I'll be home in an hour or so.
My sister lives in Eau Claire and I have in-laws in Toma. I make the run accross 94 pretty frequently! :)

That would be appreciated very much! I could maybe paypal you something for mailing it to me by US Postal. From St. Paul it would only take a day or two. I go on stinkin jury duty from tomorrow thru Friday so I won't be doing much traveling any of those days.
Thanks.

:) First one I picked out of the parts box is the one you're looking for, M2 x 14 mm. That doesn't happen very often!
PM your address and I'll drop it in the mail.
Don't worry about paying me, you can buy me a beer some time.
