View Full Version : Walkera 53 will only go up'n down :(

Hello everyone.
This is my first thread (after searching the forum of course :P) as I can't find much info about this model - or the coax models in general - and let me start by saying that I'm a newbee to the heli-world.
The problem is that my Walkera 53 is not very eager to do more than the most necessary - that is hovering. All that fun stuff like going back- forward and to the sides it doesn't seem to have its interest.
I've had it for a couple of month, without any problems. It was flying (considering my limited skills) good but finally I succeed to break the blades so I bought a replacement kit. Now, after installing the kit it's like nothing happened when I try to go forward and the rudder movement (when it turns around) has become very difficult to trim. It goes up'n down without problems.
The replacement kit was not a original Walkera kit (if that exist?) and the blades are made of plastic.
Checking the servos and "it seems" that they throw enough and also the blades moves fine.
Any suggestions????

At the same time I've been doing quite some time with my RealFlight G3 and I could use an advice regarding what would be the next step away from the coax helis. I would like to fly something like Walkera 60 but don't know if it's worth the money to play with a 4#3 first????

Best regards and thanks for any reply.

PS: Sorry about my English - I miss a lot of technically expressions :(
PPS: I'm only using Walkera as a reference for the size - don't know yet too much about the different brands...

Hmm, I know that Walkera is the black sheep on this page and specially the 53 model, so I did some research on my own.
I mentioned that I changed the blades - the truth is I only changed the lower blades as the top blades are OK.
So now I got a heli with two different blade sets, the original on top and some others (Carson??) below. I compared the top blades with the ones from the replacement kit I bought and it seems like there is a slight difference in the profile and my question is – can this difference in the profile cause that the heli won’t move forward/Backward and to the sides????

Thanks in advance :)

I'm guessing it has 2 servos on the swshplate? Are they both moving? Is the swashplate tilting? A small change in blade profile should not hurt the chopper, sounds like the crash did a little more damage than you've found..

the blade CX and CX2 are coaxial, there's a ton of stuff here...

Hi Endo1 and thanks for your input.
Yes there are 2 servos connected to the swashplate and as far as I can see they both moves just like they alway have done.
It's not that the heli doesn't move - it just doesn't mover very much. Before, the rudder was very sensitive, small movements with the stick caused big movements on the heli, but now I have to give full rudder on the transmitter just to get a little movement on the heli
Anyway - I will follow you advice and double check the servos and also the servo sensitivity adjustment on the receiver.

Once again - thanks for your input.

Ehh - now I got it, CX and CX2 are social groups  Guess I'm a newbee to this pages as well ;)

Well - just to close this thread.
Friday I got some original blades and that was it.
They do have another profile than the Carson blades I bought and that was enough to prevent the heli from manoeuvring well.

Lesson learned: The design of the Walkera 5#3 is not so flexible that you can use other spars. The throw of the servos is very little and it’s cannot be extended like e.g. the Blade CX, so only original blades will do – therefore - always stick to original spars.

Thanks to all for inputs.
