View Full Version : Logitech 2100 set up

I've been flying the Gaui with the Logitech 2100/ 3100 combo for several weeks. Initially I set up the heli to have no drift in rate mode and the heli has performed well.
I decided to run an experiment on set up since this question comes up again and again. I lengthened the tail push rod 6 full turns which centered the tail blades in rate rather than having the blades offset. I then flew the heli in HH. To my surprise I could not see any difference in performance. I am no 3D pilot and I was flying circuits in 5mph cross wind hands off on the rudder for 30 seconds at a time. Of course I would not be able to fly in rate mode comfortably without readjusting for zero drift but I fly HH only.
Just an observation.

Try doing 1/4 or 1/2 piros. You will probably find that, yawing one direction, the gyro will cause the heli to continue turning after you've centered the rudder stick.

Thanks Mike,
I plan to keep this centered slider set up for a while and will certainly do piros and test your suggestions. I've read many reports of people having problems with slow nose drifting with the Fut 401 and the Logitech 2100. One of the frequent recommendations is to set these gyros for neutral drift in rate to correct this drifting. It doesn't make sense that a HH gyro needs this since the servo apparently does no more mechanical work to hold a position against the torque. Spartan developers (Angelos) say that you don't need to set up in rate unless you fly in rate and many Trex pilots set up centered slider for the 401 with no problem.

I had the G200 mechanically setup with the rudder pitch at zero. The 2100 didn't like it. I probably had half a dozen mishaps with the gyro setup in that fashion.

I agree that it doesn't make sense that a HH gyro needs the mechanical setup to be done in rate mode. But this gyro doesn't even seem to like being setup in rate mode either. I had it set up mechanically in rate mode, and it still exhibited a delayed/no input yaw artifact. And again yesterday, despite now being setup in rate mode, it exhibited a strong left yaw with NO input from me, nearly planted the heli.

So, after that, I attacked it a different way. In HH mode, I simply adjusted the mechanics until I found where it doesn't do the uncommanded yaw (crosses fingers).

Now the 401, on my T450, it is mechanically centered up, and it works perfectly fine, stupid easy to setup. Now only if Futaba made a light weight 401...

I've read the 3154 gets hot, does the 3100? I have a 3100, 2100 and waiting on a Gaui with the 3154 already installed. What voltage does the bec put out? I haven't been able to find it.

Thanks,

My 3100 does not get hot, barely warm.
The stock Gaui 12A esc puts out 5.1V on its bec.

Yeah you shouldn't have any heat issues with the Logictech servo.
