Hi guys!!

SO ther's the thing.. I#m thinking of getting me a new Tx as my FF9 has about 500hrs using time on it and gets sort of old, and i'm a bit scared it would just stop working in flight or so... And i cant take it for checking at robbe/futaba germany as my TX is an Import and no "Robbe" labeled...

I've got the oportuninty to get a 10X for about 600€(700$) new from my LHS...or a t14MZ for 1500$.

I'm still thinking about what to do.. the 10Xis surely great BUT:
- I heared from problems with the screen and water...
- the 10X has the Hold and the Idle switchs "swoped" to my 9C... I dont know if its a good idea in case of a problem or so i'd hit the idle switch instead of the hold or somthing in the way...

another Ty would be a FF9S.... :)

So let me know!

I've run a 8103 and a 9303, I'm a JR fan. Probably not the best person to ask... but I feel you can't go wrong with JR stuff !!! (Except Gyros.... still like Futaba's Gyros)

You need to read, re-read, and re-re-read the manual with the 10X for some functions.
A lot of the features are easy enough, but others are a real pain in the behind.

I sold my 10's (multiple) years ago and bought a 9303. If I had it to do again, I'd go Futaba..

I got my 10x in a raffle for $40.

I have used JR for quite a while, even before the 10x. I have never had a failure from a JR component, save a battery that had a cell die after a couple years.

Futaba is a different story. I have lost lots of aircraft due to their components. Bear in mind this was back during the days of the Attack and Conquest radios, and before computer radios, and many people claim that Futaba has come a long way since then. The repair center always said it was something of my fault, that I replaced the pots in the gimbals with bad ones, that I was using a substandard switch, so on and so forth. They would never admit that anything was due to their faulty equipment. Hobby Services just got done screwing me pretty hard on a OS C-spec as well. same stories, it wasn't their fault. Anyway, to make a bad story better, RCD came out with the HiTech brand and I never lost an aircraft due to radio falure after that.

My personal opinion is that I would rather have a Heath Kit to fly my heli than a futaba, too bad they are the cutting edge on gyros.

Like I said that is my opinion, take it for what it is worth.

@Ivan: switch to the new CSM ;)

9303 is also nice... tough i'd take the graupner MX22 here in Germany...
do you have a link to a test of this radio or somthing in the way?

Continue telling me the pros and cons...

Buy the Futaba, JR is so far behind they still have an "Invert" switch on most of their radios.
I'll go with Charlie and say I'm a Futaba fan... so take it for what it's worth

I believe that the 10X still sells as either a plane radio and a heli radio. Your LHS may have the plane version and that's why the switches are reversed. But I could be wrong

I believe if you have 500 hours of flight time on the Futaba you have answered your own question

the 10X is a Heli version, but the Japan version (no 140°), but nevermind i think i'll stick to futaba and get me a FF9S or so... :)

I had a 9C I bought back when they first came on the market five years ago. It's now in a drawer since I just got a 9303 to replace it. It will never fly anything again, as it's now had a total power failure twice in two months, even following a factory repair. I could get it fixed again under warranty, but I could never trust it again. Nor could I sell it in good conscience. So, it's now retired. The second time it died, I was one minute from being in the air, and the heli was already started.

I've had three 149DP failures (pinout board cracked) and two 9253 servo failures.

I got the 9303 from the wifey for my B-day this month. A definate step up. Although not a 9Z, there are some added bonuses that defeat the 9C, in my book.

My experience.

BTW, Until this month, I have been a 20 year Futaba flyer.
