I'm going to use a YS 80 in my new stratus, and I just noticed I need #126-30 Adapter plate.. what is it for??
Am I done for the weekend already?

The kit comes with the adapter plates for OS, Ys 90's. Looks like you need a adapter for the YS80 I do not now what the difference is between the ys90 and 80 ,maybe thickness?

the 80 and the 90 share the same case or so I was told...
I'm putting it together with the 90 specified part, at least I can keep moving.
It looks like the gap between the clutch and fan is about the same as normal....

Just did some checking, the ys90 is .090" and the YS80/61 is .062" the OS is also .062 maybe you could modify the OS to fit all it does is set the engine height.

Gotta wonder if too tight a gap is bad?
calibrated eyeball guess is .020 gap. Too small?

If the gap is .020, that will work fine. The spacer tool that MA includes in the kits is .030. I don't use the tool and always use feeler gauges to set the gap and check the alignment. I use a .024 gauge.
Dave posted there is .028 difference in the plates. If you have the thinner plate. You can use washers or cut shims from cans to make up the difference. If you have the thicker plate and need to remove material, I don't think sanding the plate is going to do it.

now I need to find the directions for the new flybar carrier.
DH, I'll break out the gauges in a bit, taking advantage of the roll I'm on, I still need to go back and locktite everything, and I'm outta green for the hex adapter anyways...

The Stratus manuel can be downloaded off the MA website. It has all the latest directions including the instructions for putting the new flybar carrier together. Or let me know and I'll email it to you! Working on my Stratus this week and next!
