He charges his lipo using the deans connector and does it in 8 Minutes! He does put a balancer on the balancing leads while it is charging, but this cant be safe, or good for the battery... any thoughts?
* I stand corrected... I didnt here him say "1594mah in 8 minutes of flying...." My mistake.*

Can't watch the video at work. But considering that the CV part of the charge takes abuot 20 minutes, he is a candidate for a lipo fire.
Let's see, 8 minutes, 80% depth of discharge = 6C average charge rate. Yeap, a lipo fire waiting to happen.

What are you talking about? He does everything right. He charged a 1700mah LiPo at 1.7A. It took him a normal amount of time to charge it. He put back like 1500 mah or so. The only thing he said about 8 was that he flew the battery for 8 minutes. Did you watch the video?

I did watch it... I stand corrected. I watched it again. I didnt here him say "1596mah in 8 minutes of flight" the first time around... but i did this time.... But I must admit however that this is an interesting way to charge. I just use the balancing port on my charger, but if i only had a deans connector, i see how this could work.

Thats a perfectly legitimate way to charge. I use a similar setup for field charging (at home I use a Cellpro 10.) My lipos are ALWAYS balanced and are in top condition.

the one thing i got out of this video, adn please correct me if i'm wrong, is that he plug everything in and then turned the power to the charger on, and reversal for disconnect.
i do it this way and i feel it is the safest way............but i will stand corrected if anyone points me another way.

The charger has an on/off switch....so it really doesent matter. Charger doesent start charging until you start it.
