So, im finally making the jump to a 50 size heli. I bought a XPS radio system at joe nall this past year and thus far, it has worked flawlessly in my trex 450. However, i am a bit worried about using a "lesser proven" 2.4 gz system in my new baby. So, im contemplating just going ahead and tacking on a spektrum system.

I guess my question is...has anyone else been using the newer generation xps systems and how have they been performing? Now i know the older systems had a lot of bugs....im talking about people who have purchased their stuff in the last 6-8 months.

What's XPS? Why not just get a proven 2.4 system like the Dx7? http://modefosheli.com/inc/sdetail/73932

um lets see, cheaper....possibly same quality just china brand!

xps is probably a relabeled futaba or spectrum system...i say go for it!

i was thinking of the same thing, but you can find some cheap used 2.4 futaba or spectrum systems out their....so why bother?

Good God, it's not a rebadged Futaba or Spektrum.
You could buy a new radio, but I'd do a little research first...

Try the radio forum here or rcgroups.com. They have a good Radio forum and XPS forum as well. Some people hate it, some love it. You can get some real answers about it over there and it can be pretty entertaining reading when they get going.

Lots of threads on RCG in the Radios section accusing Jim Drew of deleting threads from the XPS forum. Lots of "proof" that the system never hops, but Drew says it does, but last time I checked, he had not uploaded his "proof" even after several months of promizing.

I was a big an back when it was beign developed, the concept is great, the talk was good, but have become disillusioned with the whole ting over time.

Personally I went with a Spektrum module, then to an X9303. It has bugs, but it doesn't hinge on one guy. And Spektrum has been responsive to problems, to me, much more than the other 2.4 players.

I looked up XPS and I remember seeing the modules at the AMA trade show. So no it's not cheap crap :)

And how do you come to that conclusion?

Just because they were at the AMA show?

To me you said it yourself. You've been flying the XPS in your Trex, it's been great, you've been happy... What's the problem?

You've tried it for yourself, and it works for you. Just keep using it.

I've used XPS for a year now in all my nitro and electric heli and planks. I've had great results, and no issues, even in my trex500 with plastic tail case. No brownouts, no glitches. I put one of theirpedk flyer 6 channel receivers in a twin electric OV-10 and flew it until it was just a speck in the sky.

Spectrum would be a step down, from my perspective.

Because I doubt cheap chinese knock off companys go to the AMA show.

They're not ashamed to take their junk to trade shows.

I don't care about the telemetry nonsence. Just as long as the stick inputs are followed by the heli, I'm happy. To date, my XPS has worked well. I'm not aware that there have been any significant changes in the system to expect better performance.

My real gripe is the long waits for product. Ordered a 6ch for my new Outrage G5 last week and still waiting. Seems to go that way every time.

I've been slowly replacing all my receivers with the XPS 8ch receivers over the last year. To date i haven't had a single problem with any of my birds.
