Hey guys!

Well, let me start by saying that after about 12 flights on my new Gaui, I abslolutely LOVE IT! It is one sweet flying little heli! Granted, it's a little quick for this inexperienced pilot, but I love it anyways! I have actually been doing very well flying it...until tonight, when I was trying something new...

I was trying to do figure 8's in the opposite direction I am used to doing it, and turning to my "weak side" which is turning left when the heli is to my left...at any rate, the 200 got a bit too low, and was skimming the grass on the field...and got snagged on something.

This in turn, caused a nasty tailboom strike, and then some!

Well, at least now I have a GREAT excuse to install the Micro Heli tail that is sittting here on the bench!

Just ordered all the stuff to fix it and then some from Ready Heli, but no flying the Gaui this weekend...

I just can't say enought about how I love this heli!! I didn't even flinch at ordering $100 worth of crash parts! LOL

Happy flying!!

Sorry about your crash. I guess that it happens to all of us. I too need to practice figure 8's going the "other" way. It is always easier to go one way than the other.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I can do figure 8's all day, as long as the heli is turning to the left when it's to my right, and turning right, when it's to my left (does that make sense? LOL)...but not the other way around.

Anyways, more sim time is indicated for me I think...

Thanks for the support, it was bound to happen sooner or later!

Glenn

Jet where did you get the black main gear, and what kind of landing gear?:noteworthy

To save Jet from having to tell his story again, he died his main gear, tail blades, flybar paddles, and main blades with rit-dye. An his landing gear is gear modded to fit the 200.

I have to ask. Did he dye the tail fin? That looks badass.

I don't think so. I just think that it's the light reflecting off the back off that yellow sandpaper, but I'm not sure.

Hey Jet,

Sorry for your crash as well...seems to be that tailboom strikes are common?? I am wondering if I ordered enough tailboom strike-related crash parts.

Only reason I asked is that my crash was so strange, almost like it didn't really happen, it happened so fast. I thought I was well on my way to pulling it up, and all of a sudden, she just dug in...and then the tailboom strike...

Good luck on the rebuild....

I didn't have any tailbooms "in stock" so it looks like I'm grounded until the mailman gets here Monday or Tuesday. Oh well, it will give me some time to look over/figure out the Micro Heli tailbox...

Have a great weekend,

Glenn

Wouldn't CF that color be just cool as hell? Orange, blue, red that would be fantastic

Can't see it being too difficult either... just add some dye to the resin! As long as the Dye had no effect on the Curing/Autoclave process, then coloured CF would be easy
:-)

I woner if dye would penetrate current CF? Probably not but I do have some spares sitting around!

You could use some clear, colored mylar sheet or tape.

You almost got it right Cuzz. Main blades and paddles are just painted. The landing gear color has not been altered they were black from the get go. Modded? Yes they have been narrowed to get them to fit under the the heli and not look like outrunners. Can anyone guess what heli they came off of???

Thanx Glenn. I does happen fast when it happens. I backed mine into the side of my car from about 25 ft up. Oddly enough the only casualties were the boom and 1 support, tail shaft, 1 of the little plastic doohicky links in the tail, tail servo control rod, main shaft, main grip screws, seesaw arms, and 1 tooth out of the main gear, go figure. Rebuild is complete and bout to give her a another go, she's a tough beeotch I'll say that. Good luck on your rebuild as well.:smokin:
