Just a heads-up for my fellow 700-freaks…
A strange occurrence happened today at our flying field… After about 1 minute of flying, my 700 started getting the shakes and I put it down to look it over – one of the main blade holders had come loose almost to the extent that the damper rubber was all out
Unfortunately, one of my flying buddies was not so lucky later in the day – his blades flew off in mid-air… and yes, before you ask, we both had cleaned off all oil on screws and feathering shaft before assembly and had applied Loctite all the right places.
So – check your blade holders carefully before every flight and make sure nothing is moving.

was your friend's a 700? someone on the other forum said something about all the 700s in HK being recalled for faulty grips..curious if the two are related assuming the other is true.

Yes - his was a 700 as well. We both fly on the Align flying field in Taiwan, and we got the 700s at around the same time, a month or so back.
I haven't heard of any recalls around here and there are always a bunch of Align guys around, so word travels quickly... maybe my Chinese is not good enough though ;)

..or maybe it was just an Avant troll trying to spread mis information on that other forum..ya never know. All I know is that I absolutely love my 700. I went through it pretty good on the bench yesterday now that I have a case+ of fuel through it. Everything is in order, nice tight and slop free as it should be.

Only seen it briefly - FunTech 90 seems to be the ticket right now... I kinda like the steam-punk looks of it and it sure performs extremely well. I will let you know when the Align ones start popping up

Just to be clear - I love my 700 almost as much as my daughter, and wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe two 700s). Just one more reason to make sure everything is green to go before take-off...:fly

sorry guys can't do a quote here. Haven't learnt that here on the freak. That was me by the way that said that. I'm not an Aurora fanboy.
I was in hong kong the day before yesterday. On Saturday I went to top tech and the main heli shop in kong wa street. Top tech rang to check on the 700N's arrival date as initially he had told me the distributor changed the date on him. He got off the phone and said there was a problem with the kits and they were not being shipped yet. Thats all he was told.

The shop in Kong wa street told me "many problem" delay. Too soft. I said what is too soft. He said blade grips and frame.

I also went to Waigo and was told the same thing. He said to look at RR (did not specifically mention grips or frames) They would prefer to see me in a new Hirobo.

So guys I have no idea why I was told these things. I have searched the other forum for problems and find nothing to back it up. This was factual but it seems maybe the info they are getting is incorrect.

Anyway....try to buy a trex 700N in Hong kong right now.......they are not available. Yet i just bought one back home in NZ. Also they are available in the states. And the UK.

Go figure.

I think you will like it - remember that you will need about 10 mm spacers or you will melt your tank... unfortunately found that out the hard way...:o

Let us know what you think of it.

Yer I melted my tank with a funtech muffler. Is the 938 fine?

Which funtech ? the A385 ?

Yer the A380 doesnt fit without a spacer (which I dont have). The 938 does fit and clears the fuel tank by about 8mm.

What about the A385 ?

After reading this thread i decided to check my blade grips and mine two were lose but the funny thing was that the blade holder screw was tight and until i took it apart and put it back together it fit snug. I am in the break-in stages for my os 91 and my rpm's are very low as not to cause over rev's. Thanks for the heads up cause i would have been pissed if they came off in mid air.

Thanks buddy
P.S. What setting did you break in your motor on, low and high end needle

Thanks

My collar screws were completely tight as well... which should be impossible:dontknow. Anyway - like you I took it apart and put it back together with a new feathering shaft and it fits snugly again. No problems since.

For the engine, I just followed the manual to run it a little rich at half a turn from normal. Ran 2 tanks through it like this and then returned to normal setting. Works good so far...
