Hey Guys

So on my 5th flight of today i could hear a strange clicking sound as the heli was spooling down, so i inspected the belt and could see missing teeth.
After inspecting the belt at home i see there's two parts on the belt where 1 tooth is completely missing, and about 2 places where 5-6 teeth have 1\4-3\4 missing.

Heli had 128 flights on it when i spotted the missing teeth and i just want to know what the cause is\was so i can try to make sure it will not happen again.

128 flights isn't that much is it ? i've had over 400 on my 450 belts !

Would a too lose or tight belt have caused it ?
Defective belt maybe ?
Are there better quality belts for the logo 600 ?

Belt was lubed with silicone-RC-Car-shock-oil.
I should be picking a new belt up at the 3D-Masters tomorrow BUT I really want to know the cause before I fly again. I've had Zero issues with this heli so far.

Sorry about pix but only phone cam available right now.

Thx for any help.

Only thing I know of is your belt may have been to loose.

Could be too loose or bad autos with tail hitting? I never lubed any of my belts

Thx for the suggestions Guys

Still confused cus the belt wasn't that loose and i've not had any hits on the tail. I've only got my 450 to base how loose or tight the belt is but its tighter than my 450 and seems to be a correct tension.

I was wondering today if it could be my NONE-Soft-Start-Up .... My ESC doesn't have a proper soft start, it has a So-Called-Soft-Start but its crap so i have to spool it very slowly.... And while its not violent it does sometime make the heli wobble while it starts the 1st spins.

The more i think about it now the more i think that must be the cause as it seems the only explanation.
I did a search here yesterday before making this thread and no-one has had this problem, and i asked a few ppl today at the 3D Masters and they didn't know why i lost belt teeth either.

Anyway got a new belt on now and i think i'm gonna have to spin the blades by hand before start up.... Wonder how long ill last at doing that before i get peed off. :)

Shu, time to treat yourself to a new esc my friend, sounds like you deserve it! That many flights with no crashes deserves an upgrade!:Bang

Its a cheepo Turnigy ESC http://www.evalbum.com/popupimg.php?8343 its a massive thing but it works very well (apart from no Soft) & barly gets warm..

I'm skint right now so no new anything for me for a while.

So you y'all think a NONE soft start would cause teeth to strip ? I was 0nly guessing because i have no other ideas.

depends on how rough you are with it, but I would expect it to strip the maingear first (mine did when I got the tail tangled in grass).

Hmm, interesting... I'm not ruff on the start up at all really, but like i said it does sometime make the heli wobble as it goes through its 1st spins.
So now i'm baffled again as to the cause and back to square one.

Flew 3 pack today with the new belt and i hand spun the blades before giving throttle, ill try to do this for the same amount of flights that my other belt died and see how it goes........ Thats if i dont get peed off before then.

Peace

Well this is an interesting one...Are you 100% sure that you had not at any time had the tail blades get stuck in long grass or anything which might have caused the belt to slip on the tail pulley, not even a tail heavy landing...it doesn't take much...?
When I was learning on my Corona (with belt drive) this kind of thing happened very easily...
Just a thought anyway..

Yup, i'm sure the tail never hit the ground on landings or anything got caught up in the tail, i'm not a Hot pilot but i'm not a learner no more. It is strange but i have no idea, for now i'm still spinning the blades by hand before spool up, ill do this for a while and see how it goes.

Peace
