102F here and just came in from another flight on my Logo 600. It performed great but the Tango 45-07 is hot as a firecracker! The Heatsink mod to the Jazz 55 is a must in this weather and really made a difference.... Wonder how long the motor will last in this heat.
I may limit the Logo to 7-8AM flights..... mid 70's

I'm having the same issues here, My Logo 600 with Z-Power 50A-800 is running much hotter than it was in my T-R$%600. I've cut out some slots in my canopy for cooling but haven't gone out flying today. I will report back and let you know if it helps any. It should, this canopy encloses all the hot stuff at the front.

I heard that making holes in the bottom up front is the best place to get good airflow. I may do that and build a duct system to direct the air over the ESC and to the motor.

102F is getting pretty hot, i doubt i fly if its that hot.
My Z50A is running pretty cool

Here's how I cut mine for now.

I've found that a sudden jump in motor temperature usually has something to do with too tight gear mesh.

Found a separated pinion so I think that was a major key player in my hot motor today.

Hi guys, been reading all, or most, of your logo posts before and during my first logo :)
Setup in my 600DX:
Century 650A 565kv
17T pinion
powerjazz
14S-16S A123
flight time when doing a lot of hard climb outs, tic tocs and "tight cornering" is about 4 minutes. For some
reason, hehe, I have not yet flown nice and slow, so I don't know the time for sport flying.
My motor is getting so hot I burn my fingers on it. Although the temperature outside here was unusually high yesterday, but still...
I know motors can run warm/hot, but where do I draw the line?
About tight pinions, how do I know when it is just right, will the paper trick work? I don't want to strip any gears. Manual says better tight than too loose (off course).
Already planning to cut a hole in bottom front of canopy.
Thinking about the timing on the powerjazz, it is at AUTO now. The other options are +5, +10 and -5. Is AUTO always the best? The motor specs says 5-10.
Sorry, don't know my headspeed (yet). But gov is about 75 to 85% in idle1/idle2, I'll have to check my current settings when I get home.
I don't fly hard 3D, but I found a post about the ideal headspeed that 2000rpm is perfect for sport flying and mild 3D, anything under that it gets a bit floaty and/or unstable.

I fly 2200RPM or thereabout on all my helis. About 160F is when the motor is really getting hot.
For the pinion spin it around to the tight spots (its never 100% round) and set so there is no backlash in that spot. You will find then that in some spots of the gear there will be an ever so tiny amount of backlash.
I believe this method is the best as it does not put extra force on the motor or bearings. No dramas on both my 500 and 600

Good tip... that how I do mine.

Well, I got to try out my Logo with the holes in the Canopy. It certainly cooled the ESC by about 20F. But did little to nothing for the motor. I am happy with the drop in temp on the ESC as it was a little hot for my liking (now at 100F). The motor is at about 125F and thats not horrible.
I have found something wierd going on with my Counter-Bearing... It seems to be spinning inside the pinion and getting seized to it somehow. It is also causing the whole pinion and motor to creep up and ride on the main gear funny. On my last flight I re-seated the bearing in the counter-bearing assy and lubed the little shaft that fits inside the pinion. It didn't ride up like the other flights, but temps were still the same.

I'm using a Z-Power 50A-800 Blue top with 85HV and 14S A-123 and a 13T pinion at 2200 RPM.

Logos run hot............hmmmm I wonder why. Let's see, the addicting thing about the Logos is the power and you don't see many running mild setups on these things. I bet if we all geared to run 2000rpm they'd run alot cooler, but then what fun would that be.:YeaBaby:
