Motor runs hot, smell a little burn?

Hi, this morning I was hovering my heli for 3 minutes, after setting back down I notice the motor was hot, when i got close to the motor I can smell a faint burning, is this normal? It is a align 2500kv inrunner.

Why did you put such an underpowered motor in your MT, knowing it weights more than the TREX and is likely to require a bit more punch? I wouldn't go below 3000kv but perhaps it depends on personnal preferences... Stock TT engine is above 3500kv, SE engine is 3700kv.

I know people can do light 3D with the align motor you have, but it definately lacks power...

well the builder said it would work, I am new so I can only do hover and some FF, still learning orientation, nothing 3d yet. Is it still ok? Can i put on a AXI cooler and align cooler if they do make one?

It's probably better/cheaper to install a properly sized motor...

what batteries are you using? esc? many things could be wrong. give us your set up, and we can help you.

i was runing a 35A align ESC, i have some eflite 1800 mah batteries (2) with 20c, and a lighting power 2250 25c. TODAY I just called up anotehr LHS and they had this motor in stock called the just go fly 500th, so i never heard of it, i jsut got back and he installed it, WOW runs so much cooler, seems much more powerful too. im running a 13T pinion with that, not sure what to set my throttle curve tho.

He put 0-35?-85-85-85, but i changed it to be more linear.

Just do linear 0 - 25 - 50 -75 - 100
