View Full Version : Elevator A-arm at 90 to bellcrank??

I just started setup on my K3D and it doesn't appear that the bellcrank on the outside of the frame is perpendicular to the A arm inside the frame. Is this correct? The manual looks to me to be at 90 degrees. If I put a 2mm driver in the alignment hole and into the elevator a-arm the bellcrank is not vertical. I tried to pull the grub screws and make it so but there seems to be flat spots in that shaft that just roll it right back to where it is now.

Any ideas? or am I just overthinking the issue or nonexistent issue?

As in yes it is supposed to be at 90 degrees? Or yes it is not at 90 degrees?

It is not supposed to be at 90 degrees.

The servo is lower than the center line of the bellcrank so 90 degrees would not work.

it should be 90.

one of the grub screws locates on a flat, another just pinches the shaft. the flat is on the shaft closest to the elevator bellcrank that goes to the servo.

take this grubscrew out and make sure it has a flat end on it. it seems some kits got a pointed grub screw. easiest thing is to take a file and make the end flat.

Thanks guys, I pulled the shaft last night and noted the 2 flat spots on it for the grub screws. You are correct that the grub screws have a little nipple on the end and allows it to rotate slightly in the flat spot. Of course if you tighten the other one down first (the one that doesn't rest in a flat spot on the shaft) you can really throw the whole geometry off. I'm pretty sure that is what happened in my kit.

My apologies for posting incorrect information.

I defer to Ade on this-I should have pulled the Knight out and looked at it before answering.
