Just finished the build of a beltcp from scratch using Standard frame, Gyro and ESC, 3900Kv motor, CNC Head with titanium turnbuckles, CNC tail, CNC tailservo mount & CNC tail fin mount. SG90's all round, Carbon Blades, Fins and Tail rotors, Gorilla Gear paddles, T-rex canopy mounts and CopterX fibre glass canopy. Stainless Shaft and feathering shaft & MX400 Main Gear.
Spent quite some time getting my wiring tucked away so where possible it is totally hidden. Built the head from servos up ensuring everything was mechanically as good as it could be (used a swash leveller), balanced blades (CoG and main balance) and then set pitch up.
Just took her out side and she is flying like a dream, blades perfectly tracked, motor sounding sweet. It's such a great feeling when all the effort comes together and you know that it's flying as good as it can possibly fly.
Now just waiting for my Sanwa tx crystal to arrive so I can get the RD6000 working with the Esky rx (hopefully!!).

Yeah, I like the canopy too. Bought 2 of them to go up on the shop originally but never got round to it, think the other one will go on my belt when I get round to rebuilding it! Alas, the belt shown will be on ebay tomorrow (assuming my Sanwa Tx xtal turns up and I can get it working with the esky rx). Need to clear out some space for when my CopterX arrives :) And some extra funds would be nice, still need to buy an AR7000 rx and a gyro/servo combo for the CopterX.

Hi Psilo, Very nice build indeed! Canopy is v.nice! :D

Can I ask what the tracking is like on the stock Carbon blades?

I smashed the stock CF blades on my maiden flight and they only lasted about 20 seconds! I've got Aligns on it at the moment, but can't seem to get the tracking perfect even after replacing the rubber dampers.

Do you think I should go back to the stock one's, as they fit the cnc blade holders better and hopefully may help the blades track better?

Copterboy,

Few things....
When you put the align blades on did you put 1mm shims either side of the blade root in the holders? If not then that could be your tracking issue, if you have shimmed them then check that you put the thrust bearing together correctly when rebuilding your head, if you got the washers the wrong way round then again this can cause problems, as can the little screws that hold the flybar holder in place, they tend to loosen slightly and cause tracking issues.

As for the tracking with the Esky carbons, they tracked spot on when I spun her up after the build. However, they are really poorly made. You will see I have used some duct tape on them, it was the only way to balance them! I tried with electircal tape (my normal method) but needed 2 wraps around to get the CoG's matched then 5 wraps around on the other blade to get the balance right  This left a few mm of tape on their which would have screwed around with the aerodynamics so moved to duct tape instead. Can't beat the align blades!

I made up some shims from the fixed length pitch rod (I cut the O's of each end and shaved off the bump left from the rod!). Each one is 2mm thick, and I have them installed above the blade.

It was just a cheeky free mod to make the blades fit so I think I better go look for some proper 1mm shims for above and below blade's.

Many Thanks & Happy Flyin!

Edit : I know the thrust bearings are right way round, but I'll check them little screws later!

Wouldn't worry about going getting 1mm washers/shims. I use a single shim above the blade also sometimes and it works for me.

The little screw I am on about is this one

, it's a right little pain and the first thing to check on the cnc head if you are getting unresolvable or bad tracking! I threadlock mine in and they still work loose

NIce one man it's sorted it out good. I took advice and went and checked all the screws on the head and it was the allen bolts on the pitch mixing arms that was the culprit (the one's just to the right of your arrow with the brass spacer's behind it).
So pleased...it makes it track solid and the whole heli seems to respond better...thanks a mil for that one :).

Will add some thread lock the next time I got time!

Cool, glad you are sorted, tracking problems suck! Threadlock is a must on cnc heads, otherwise you will always be finding screws coming undone and it could happen mid air!

Heli Yea!
