Hi Rhip
Welcome in our little play corner. There are several DX6 flyers amoung us, I am sure they will be glad to be of any assistance.

Hi, Rhip - good to see you in our little asylum. I think you'll find a lot of familiar faces here... The Belt CP section was more or less created by other HG veterans who needed a change ;)

Don't worry about the DX6i, you'll learn to love all the adjustability once you get the hang of the menus. Seems like half the guys here have one, so help is never far away when you run into a problem with it.

Thats the disadvantage of heliguy. You learn hardly anything there. Over here most people know how to use a dx6i because we help them. This website also has a lot of super helpful videos which are a must. Without Bobs videos I probably wouldn't know half as much as I do now.

Rhip, you will get the hang of that DX6I in no time. You just need to know what everything means. It's not using the DX6I that is the complicated part. It is knowing how to setup up a helicopter and knowing the phrases for different things that is hard to understand.

If you read the manual only on the parts of the menu you dont know then it will give you a better idea of what they do. How are you with pitch curves? This is probably the best thing to start off with seting up your heli with the DX6I.

Take a look at these 3 videos. They will tell you exactly how to setup your throttle and pitch curves with the head. Once you have done that then things will become more clearer:D

http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/trex450&filename=CCPM_Part_2.wmv

http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/generic&filename=curves101.wmv

Ps. watch them in the order I gave them to you. And if your still unsure of whats going on then you can just watch them again. It will appear simple to you after you get used to it.

Hey Guys..

Thanks for the warm welcome

Gerd..

After i set the throttle curve that you have, i managed to fill my pants. Its hard to belive the amount of noise the old Esky motor throws out when its screaming. The old Tx never gave me that kind of headspeed lol. I tryed the pitch curves that you gave me also, but i found it hard to lift off so i'm going to mess around with them later on when the wind and rain goes away.

Sparky..

When we parted ways, the throttle curves that we set up where still WAY WAY up there, when i got a gap in the weather i went outside and tried it in the drive. Well i had to change back to the old plastic tail cause the cheap CNC copy i had didnt like the speed and decided to give up. So i think i may end up playing with the throttle curves that you and i set up..

Thanks for the offer of help fellas, and i'll take you up on it when i have reached a dead end and cant find away around it myself.

LoL, should have warned you about the headspeed with those throttle curves!! I had the same brownpants experience when I first moved over.

The pitch curves will depend on the mechanical setup of your heli to a large extent. I ended up with mine after setting up as per the Finless Bob CCPM videos. For normal mode I wanted -2, 0, +10 so used my pitch gauge to adjust the curves to give me that.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hahaha

Guess what..

Just relised that i can program my throttle hold to act like an idle up switch :Slap

Hehe i love that sentence "I can program"

lol

Sounds like you are gettng on top of it Rhip. Learning what each setting does only comes with mucking around, But copy your settings to another model in the Tx then if you stuff up your settings you can just use the copy.

Lets us know how it flys when you get it sorted

Once you get used to the headspeed you will do fine, cant believe your cnc tail gave up the ghost.
Those curves we set up are the norm and idle up curve I fly. Plus on the DX7 I have a idle up 2 setting and run that 100% flat line. Dont use it often but love the sound when I do.

Don't use your throttle hold switch as a idle up siwitch. Use it as the throttle cut. This way, you dont have to hold down the throttle cut switch to do autos.

keep a linear pitch curve with 0 throttle hold. This acts like you are autoing in idle up. :D:thumbup:

Thanks for helpfuls thus far lads :noteworthy

I have my throttle curves set at point where i dont fill me trousers when i power up

I also have my heli lifting off where i want it to as well, just under half stick, Tho its real jumpy...

LOL!!! just figured it out lol :Slap

it's cause i have

42:lol:60:75:85:100

I'm thinking that if i change it too

45:55:65:75:85

That'll take the jumpyness away from lift off and hover around mid stick to 3/4 stick keeping the pitch curve "Linear" (is that right jonny??)

Man who would have thought this Transmitter needed so much "brain" time :arggg:

Rhip

Yeah you wanna keep the pitch curve linear if poss that will reduce the jumpiness. As you know mine is set at 40, 45, 50, 75, 100 for normal mode with full brownpant headspeed hitting in with throttle curve of 0,70,80,90,100 (yes I do have supersoft start set on my ESC!!)

So, I keep my pitch curve linear below mid stick and after mid stick but not all the way through.

RhipKord

Yeah i think thats what the problem is.

To much headspeed to soon and to little lift at the start - mid points.

Not used to that type of abuse.. (YET!!! :flamedevil)

I 'm thinking that i'll tone it down to start with and then i'll work my way up from there. :glasses2:

Yeah Sparky i think i am..

Just been looking at my throttle an dpitch curves and have straightened them out, just gotta wait till the missus and the kids and the weather dissapir and i'll run it outside and have a play to see what my changes have done.
