Hi,
I'm a heli newbie comfortable with forward flight (not 3D though) and thinking about getting my first plane, either the Electrifly Fokker DR1 Triplane or the EFlite Hawker Sea Fury. I think I can fly planes having tried them on Phoenix and being comfortable flying around on a Trex 450 SE v2. Do you think I can make the transition? I asume planes would be more eaiser than helis as your not constantly on the "stick". Also, I have read on RC Groups that the Fokker is not an ideal first plane as it is somewhat touchy.
I have my heart set on these two planes and torn between both but I am leaning towards the Fokker as it is made from balsa and plywood (stronger), as oppose to the foamie Sea Fury. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I wouldnt consider either appropriate for a begginner now matter how well you think you can fly the sim, though the Sea Fury will be easier to stick back together when you dork it.

I wouldnt suggest Eflight period, simply because of the prices and really the quality isnt any better than the other companies.
I would suggest for your first plane you go with Art-Tech's P-51D... very easy to fly and flys very scale and dirt cheap as well.... Foam is excellent and hard to break.

Easy to fly, inexpensive and can be flown indoors if you have some room that is or a place to do so.
When absolutely still outdoors, it is a riot then too. It has been still here for many evenings.
Flies 15 min, weighs 15 grams, is very durable and at $80 for the bind and fly, fairly cheap.
Charges in 15 min.
Slow, easy first plane for me.

can't go wrong with either an easystar or slowstick, both abuser friendly and lots of support

I would want to know first if considering glow or electric. Due to pricing in batteries up to a certain size, it would make a difference.
I too have the T-Rex SE V2 and have 2 of the best planes to have permanently, for me!:noteworthy

I bought a SlowStick for about $100 and I have a blast with it. You can fly forever if you just cruise around and "glide" some with it. Upgraded to Lipo battery and better motor, but you cant hardly hurt the thing and even if you do, a whole kit minus electronics is only about $40 or so. When I'm looking to relax a bit I take the Slowstick!
At IRCHA a friend of mine was flying the EFlight Vapor which is really meant for indoors, but he floated the thing around for about 20 minutes in a good wind. The kit RTF is only $129 or so (course it's tiny...but so simple and fun to fly). You can also buy a Bind-n-Fly version if you already have a spektrum radio. The lipo battery charges off of a charge that uses AA batteries. Takes about 20 minutes or so to charge. I've got one on order!

heck, you can get a slowstick aiframe for around $20.00, a outrunner from lightflight rc for around another 20 and use spares for the rest

I have a glider and a E-flight CAP 232. The glider is for relaxed flying and the 232 is for hardcore 3d and anything else you want to do!:clappp

I find the hardest thing about flying planks is getting them into a stable hover. Have fun

Great Planes Flatouts!!!!!! I have the Hellcat(discontinued:mad::arggg:) As well as the Zero and the J3, the Hellcat was the best, And mine has been glued back together many times, It is now known as Frankenplane, but still flys GREAT,but the Zero flys well too, and the best part is: THEY'RE ONLY $25:tongue and they come with a motor!!!!!! And the "upper" Flatouts are great when you get comfortable with the "cheaper" ones, they have large control surfaces and bigger motor and are very twitchy(read; dual rates ran low), And they're only $35. but they are still ugly flat foamies, but I don't feel a bit bad when I crash em!
