I am totally ignorant about all things RC. I have flown my friends CX2 and want one for myself. While looking for best prices I found the ESky Dauphin CoAxial for half the price. I don't know difference between the two, they seem almost exactly the same. It looks like Esky only has 4 channels and is not digital.
How many channels does the Heli need, seems like 4?
top rotor speed
bottom rotor ratio
swash plate fore/aft
swash plate right/left
For flying around the house would digital really be any different?
It there any difference in the parts they are made from, are they interchangeable?
I only plan to get one heli and probably not mod it. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Hi Deathace,
A co-ax only needs 4 channels which are Throttle, Rudder, Elevator (Fwd & Back) and Aileron (Left & Right). It doesn't need the extra 2 channels like a 6 channel heli, which are pitch (angle of blades) and another for a heading lock gyro.
Whichever you choose, both are available with stock 2.4G Transmitter and Receiver (instead of FM/crystal type) so have a good look around - your better off with the 2.4G type. I think the e-sky one's only came out last year so most places are only just getting them in stock (not everywhere has them yet).
If I were to offer you my choice - I would say go with the CX2 - I think the chassis is laid out for better balance and you can get some good upgrades (for the CX2 and some Lama parts are compatible) if you do decide to go down that route later.
The companies that make these co-ax heli's do make things differently, you need to be careful as things like the swashplate/hubs/blade grips/ball links and linkages are different (I think MNWiz has done guide somewhere).
Check if e-sky or e-flite parts are easily available for you to get hold of - compare prices on the things you will need most like new blades and you can't go much wrong with either.

Good response copterboy, saved me some extra explaining to do.
I have a Blade CX2 myself. It was my first heli, got me hooked on the hobby like a druggie on crack. You'll have a lot of fun with it. One thing you can do to the CX2 is install a lighting system. It's a 5-channel heli, so you get to control what the 5th channel does and whatever is plugged into it. Some people use it for retractable landing skids. But as a beginner, you don't have to worry about that for now, just something to keep in mind.
Xtreme has some good upgrades/bling mods for the CX2 from XtremeCX2.com, so if you ever feel like it, you can browse around there.
If there's anything that should be done to the CX2 when you first get it, put some heat sinks on the motors. They get plenty hot after a flight, adding a heat sink will help them live longer.
Happy Flyin

ESky Dauphin CoAxial is a good helicopter, very similar to Blade CX2, but lot cheaper. Go for the new 2.4G one. Friend of mine got one and fly great.
