Just tried to get my Trex-600n in the air today no luck.
Here is what is happening it strarts then as it comes up to speed it just stops running. Just like it ran out of fuel. Now it has a new glo plug even tried a new one same thing. This is the second Ys 50st that did this and did it often and thats even after break in. I think the check valve maybe the problem but on two engines? If that's the problem then I'll throw this YS 50 in the trash and go with the Redline and see if that's better. Oh when I finally got it up to speed after about an hour of trying the heli leaned over and the blades hit the dirt and that was that.
Now I checked very carefully for a level swash middle top and bottom with a youngblood swash tool so I don't know what was up with that. If I can't get this thing right I will go back to my Rapptor 50 which I flew alot before I put the Ys 50 in that one.
Carbon blades shot there is a $100 gone I might just say to hell with this whole thing and find something else to do with my time.

Here is why it just tipped over, I had used the Youngblood swash level and when I did this I did it outside and use daylight to see if it was right. Tonight I used a good strong back light and it was off enough to tip it over and hit the blades. Lesson learned use a good strong backlight daylight doesn't work.
Next I called my friend Todd Bennett and my mentor and he also thinks its the check valve gave me some advice and if nothing else I will see him at a fun fly later this month and we will solve this. Thanks for letting me vent here it sure pissed me off to distroy a new set of blades worth $100. But that was my fault.

I don't get how not having a perfectly level swash would tip the heli. How much subtrim are you using???
So long as it's close, you can still fly the heli and that's when you fine tune the interaction out.

The swash was tipped to the left my fault. And when I spooled up I spooled to much and it tipped and hit the blades. Sub trim on all is zero. I used end travel to get the swash level at center top and bottom. It just wasn't done right the first time. Again my Fault.... I still don't like the Idea that this check valve is so tuchey.. But if I know you need to blow through it to make sure it's not stuck I guess I can live with that if It's a good engine.. And yes it was stuck when I blew through it. Todd Bennett knows his stuff. I can see where the engine quits because it can't relive the pressure into the tank and the engine appears to hydrolock and the engine quits. Just like it ran out of fuel.

To check the operation of the YS check valve. It is easier to suck on them than blow thru them. Just turn the valve around and try to suck thru it. It will open up easier than it will blowing threw it. Learned that from10 years of flying YS motors. <G>
Also the most important thing is to be absolute sure the tank will pressurize. Take the tank and submerge it in water. Pinch off the fuel outlet. Then pressurize the tank using the pressure line. If you see any air bubbles in the water from the tank. The tank is not sealed enough for the pressure the YS engine will supply. It is only 3-5 PSI that the YS pressurizes into the tank. But if it will not hold any pressure that is part of the problem.
The only thing the check valve does is allow the pressure to remain in the tank. The regulator on the engine is what controls fuel flow to the carb. The tank could have 2 psi or 10 psi. The motor would run the same as long as the regulator was working properly. There is a possibility that debri is in the regulator and not allowing it to operate properly. Seem that happen a few times.

Thanks Dave:
Great advice cause when I blow threw it I thought I was going to die. Thought how can this motor put that much pressure to open that check valve. I will try both things you brought up as Todd says it a great motor and I'm sure it will be once I get the hang of it.
GREAT ADVICE THATS WHY HF IS THE BEST THERE IS

I have known Todd for over 10 years. He knows about YS's. Not sure he is using the YS 50 or has used it. I know he has used the YS 91ST and SR. The YS 50 is a little different than the 90's. The operation principal is the same. Just the 50 seems to take a little more adjusting to get it to run correctly and keep it running correctly. That has been my experience from being around a couple of pilots using the YS 50ST.
