The battery tray on the CP Pro just sucks....Has anyone come up with or can you suggest a mod to improve it?

there are at least two alternatives out there---one is alluminium and one is plastic but it completely wraps around the battery....more like a cage.
If you google them or search around, you'll find them

I used a light plastic container that small nail brads come in and cut one end off and used velcro to hold it in place. That worked good untill I put super skids on and had to use the old stock tray.

The best battery tray mod I know is to take it off. I stick velcro loops under the shelf of the frame that holds the Rx and stick the battery directly to it, then put a light rubber band around them. My heli's have had some hard crashes and the frame tray has never broken.

I've never broken the battery tray. But after installing a DD tail mod, I could not get the CG right. What I did was to cut out the front "vents" on the sides of the canopy to allow the battery to move all the way forward. Then I moved the battery tray in front of the front skid mount and replaced the rods with longer ones. Works like a charm for me. The battery is secured to the tray with Velcro strips, a Velcro strap, and a elastic hair band. It ain't going anywhere in flight or in a crash.

I've fab'ed several battery trays. a 5/8" strip of CF mounted with CF tubes works great. Length is governed by battery length.

my friend and i do basically the same thing with his. put velcro on the battery mount, and battery. then wrap a rubber band around the 2. he got a mount for each battery. removes the front piece of fuel tube, and replaces with a fresh battery.
