Vibe 50 got fired up for the first time this afternoon. This weekend, off to the flying field to actually fly it. But I am happy, it runs, and makes smoke.

Setup:

JR R921
3 x JR DS8717 cyclic servos
JR 770 3D / 8900G for tail
JR DS3517 (mini) for throttle
Scott Gray ReactorX - Flight Power EVOLite 2500
MultiGov Pro (just along for the ride for now) - DS285 for mixture contol later
YS 50ST
Hatori Bobby Watts Muffler (aka 522)
Radix blades

RIght now, running it on swampwater (Cool Power 15% and 30% mixed half and half). It sort of comes out a brownish color.

Sick,

Have you flown one before? Can you compare it to the 600n?

Nope, my first nitro heli. But every report I have seen has people selling thier 600s after flying the Vibe.

I will get some pics today before I go cra... flying. :)

PineCone congratulations for your maiden flight. I do also made a maiden flight on my new Vibe 50 this morning. This is my second one this year cause I had a very bad crash with my first one. It was my fault and it took 2 months before I pardonned myself for a so stupid crash (even the OS hyper was broken in halves).:bomb:

I am not new to helicopter and I have been flying for more than 20 years with a break in between. I have 2 Hirobo Sceadu Evo 50 whitch are docile and good flying machines but the Vibe 50 is in another category.

It can be fast and wild as it can be docile also. What a solid flying machine this Vibe. Straight from the construction table to flying with only 2 clics on aileron and 3 on elevator.... that's ALL.

There is a beautiful sound coming from this machine: tail gear box mixed with the blades (Radix).

Even if I had an accident with the 1st one and build a TRex 600, flew it and sell it right after, I will never regret my return with this magical :P helicopter.

Long live the Vibe and PineCone fly it often you will never regret it.:noteworthy

Pinecone.... Congrats!!! I know you'll love your Vibe... I love mine and sold my 600n before I even got the Vibe. And I never looked back.

To set the record straight, it ran, but never lifted off. My driveway is a bit small to maiden a 50 nitro.

Today, at the club field. :) And I will take pics BEFORE I fly it. :)

Hi Joco,

Have you got your Vibe for long and have you had any problem with it?

I am now to 8 tanks with my Vibe and it's perfect except for the CG which is perhaps a little nose heavy.

Aero.

I am still dialing in the Vibe. I have about a gallon through it but I still just dont have it "right". It seems we keep playing with the Pitch Curve, throttle curve or something.

BUT... it flies great VERY stable and smooth. We are just being real anal with the setup and trying to make it as "perfect" as possible.

OK, got three flights in yesterday. And my first hot start. :( I have the YS< so I did the full throttle 10 secons onteh starter to pressurize the tank. So of course, I tried to start it at pretty much full throttle.

Fixed that. :)

Had trouble with the idle. I set the idle point in accordance with the YS manual and mark. But I had to move the Travel Adjust about 25 points to get a reliable idle.

I am having a bit of tail movement, but I think some of that is due rich setting on the engine. A bit of high freq tail fin vibration, so I will balance the tail blades, and, if needed, the entire tail assembly.

But SWEET. Stable, even in some gusty winds.

Hi Joco!

1st: what is your setup ?

Cyclic servos, gyro, gyro servo, throttle servo, motor, radio tx and rx

I will try to help you

Pinecone, your tail movment and shaking is probably due to our engine being too rich.

Beeing my second one this year it is like the 1st one, I followed the instruction exactly like it is showed even if I tought that the pitch eight on the main shaft was to high etc......

Take care to keep your swashplate almost at a perfect level and each rod lenght is perfect.

That's what I figured. But nice to hear it from someone else.

I think that you know enough setup and I believe that you built it right so the engine left

I got a little tail wag when I was running rich too.

I flew this afternoon with a good wind and with the heading hold gyro (401) it is like there is no wind at all. Solid like a rock.

Pinecone have you had a chance to lean your YS a little ?

The only problem I have is: How do you take your RPM when you fly alone????

I think I will hire someone!!!

My setup: Vibe 50, OS SZ-H .50, Gyro 401 Futaba with 9254 for tail, Cyclics = 3 Hitec 5625MG, Throttle JR821, Li-Po Align 1900mah 7.4volt 2in 1 with 1.5 volt Glow starter, 5.1volt step down for the gyro and the 9254, CY 5/50 muffler, CY Radix 600mm blades, standard tail blades with a lot of control.

WRT RPM, I tried my Eagle Tree, using the MultiGov sensor, but didn't get a reading.

I have to play with it more.

As for leaning, not yet, I hope to be some flying this weekend. The I will be out of town the next one, then fly, then gone for bunch of time.
