Hey guy's, look at these! They seem to be beefed up OS 50's to put out even more power! Do you know if you can get these anywhere in the states? They look really cool!

OS 50SX-H Hyper- M-Speed MOD
Posted by Calvin Lin on Friday, August 1st 2008

The Japaneses have always been crazy about their engines, trying to squeeze out the maximum power from minimum capacity. It seems they have applied that to the OS-50 hyper. R/C engine tuning house and aftermarket parts manufacturer, M-Speed, has been selling two types of very modified OS-50 hyper.

Lets start with the more affordable variant at around US$250.
“OS 50 SX-H Reformed”

Features

* 3-needle 60M carb off the 91SZ-H
* Black Coated head for better heat dissipation
* Polished Crankshaft intake port
* Special Con-rod

And then there is a even more highly modified version, the “H817 SX-H” at a cool US$400
H817 SX-H

Features

* Ceramic Bearings
* Lightened Crank Shaft
* Modified Exhaust Timing
* Black Coated Heat Sink and Crank Case for heat dissipation
* Modified for maximum top end power

Yes, all OS warranty will be voided for both engines, but I suppose M-Speed will give customers some sort of support, though it isn’t mentioned on the web page.

Their web site says they will ship all over the world but the web page is only in Japanese.

It is not supercharged, as you say, only tuned, how much more HP then a stock Hyper is there?

To be worth 400$ it must be over 3HP IMO.

Exactly what I was thinking... I don't see a supercharger.

Hmmm I need to paint my cooler head black to get maximum performance...

When will the Japanese learn...it's proven scientific fact that red is the fastest color.

Do you have any links to support that?

Allthough red is pretty fast, it was generally known in the 60's that british racing green was the fastest colour :D

I didn't actually mean they were supercharged, I was just using it as a way to describe how they were beefed up.

Technology has come a long way since the 60's my friend. Current red paint technology not only reduces all aerodynamic drag to 0 but also boosts horsepower 33%.

Hmm, is that why Massa blew up yesterday?

A silver car won. :)

I personally would not get to excited over these. If any of you were/are in the RC car racing scenery, you will see that OS did this with their car engines. To be short and to the point, they were not worth the extra money.

In the car department, they are labled the O.S. Speed.

just my .02 though . . .

Hey, if this thing comes with Canopy Stickers, that alone is worth a huge bump in bench performance! Just think of the power gains if the sticker has a black carbon fibre background!

BTW, if you want more power out of your 50 class ship, put a 90 class motor in it (BBC Pantera / Trex 600n) There is no replacement for displacement!
