For anyone who has one of these, please share your setup.
3 or 4 CCPM? Headspeed? Batteries?Pitch range? Servos?Pics?
Thanks

Tom,
I would post the same question over a Scalerchelis.com

We just got our BT up yesterday for the first time.
Muffler came loose (it was cracked already) and the vertical fin slipped into the 60.00   Tailblades, but IT WAS AWESOME! :D

From what I saw in the brief hover that is. :D
Here is what I have ours setup with currently

Pitch is +10/-10, but I think I am going to bump that up a tad to +11/-8 or so...
Throttle curve in normal (only setting so far) is 0-40%. :D That's it I sure seems like it is overspeeding at that low a setting even in the hover.
I am going to dial it in real well on curves then put the GV-1 on there.
Speaking of which how does the Stator Gator go onto the RC230?

I am running the 3 servo 90 deg setup. SR-3 on Futaba for the swashplate.

Battery power is a Fromeco Arizona at 5.5V on the servos (9252's) and a 2400mah Fromeco Relion pack.

So far I am in love. It is extremely smooth compared to other gassers I have messed with. Really slick.
I have a set of 110mm V tail blades coming for it to replace the busted Vario's. I will see how they hold up....

You are going to love that ship. I am considering swapping an Ion for one of those. :D

The GGS-230RC just plugs into the spot your kill switch is now.
Just pry the switch out and install my unit (my adapter the same "body" as the stock kill switch) You will lose the stock kill switch function.
I have a real sexy vert. and horz. fin from the first run of Predators, hollow carbon fiber and weighs next to nothing.
I would set your normal pitch at like -3 and + 11 and hover at half stick in normal
That will let you work with the throttle curve more.
You will have more "resolution" in the collective for AP work.

Guys, watch overspeeding on decreased load....i.e., after a climb out and you decide to descend, it will overspeed and bend the blade bolts. When I had the RevMax working well, it was perfect, I had whatever I wanted for head speed until it tried to go over and then the gov kicked in.

Jack,
What was your headspeed during the climb out?

I just ordered an optical tach yesterday for this very reason.

I am going to finally tach my heads and see where they are at after 4 years. :D

Hi, my acrobat has a turbine in it. It has +14 degrees top end, -8 degrees bottom end and hovers on + 5 degrees. This is a stretched version with 810 blades and doing 1650 rpm with metal grips. This is one hell of a beast with up to 8hp available. :D

I've just bought a Vario Acrobatic and after reading about the head bolts I checked mine and sure enough they are bent, I've only hovered it myself for a few min's and the head speed seemed OK so I think the previous owner must have caused this. I've drilled out the blade holders and the blades themselves and replaced the bolts Raptor 60 one's
I’ve put a picture of the bolts in my gallery

Keep us posted on how they stand up to the vario power ! i have the same problem with my acrobatic anything over 1400 head speed and the vario bolts bend  you would think vario would do something about this

They handle 19000 + on the raptor 60-90 with no problems, the only thing worrying me now is are the blade holders and spindle shaft strong enough.

I have a Quick UK head that I'm going to try and modify to fit the Acrobatic, anyone else done this type of conversion?

Well it fits, only problem so far is the mixer arms only fit upside down.

Guys, on the bending of bolts we had a smilar problem here at NRI with the R22 head and I exchanged the stock metric grade 9 bolts for some 12.9 and have not had any more problems. Craig B

Craig,

Where is a good source for 12.9 grade metric bolts?

Thanks,

Mike

Hoot, I just went to a fastener store in Huntsville there are two so any large city should have one. They had them in stock here but you may have to get them ordered depnding on if they have been requested before. Craig B
