I'm very pleased to announce our very first annual fun fly in Orlando, Florida. This will be held at the RCACF (Radio Control Association of Central Florida) field December 12, 13 & 14 2008.

This is a great location for a fun fly and the weather in Orlando in December is beautiful with very low humidity and average temps in the upper 60's to low 70's. Lots of places to visit near by as well as Disney World of course if you decide to bring the family!

We plan on having a very laid back event, but expect very big names and lots of people! The following pilots have already confirmed directly with me that they'll be attending the event.

Featured Pilots / Guests

Alan Szabo
Jason Krause
Matt Botos
Henry Caldwell
Bobby Watts
Nick Maxwell
Tim Jones
Big D
Craig Martin
Steven Fox
Jared Granzow
Ray Nemovi
Dino Spadaccini
Derrick Threatt

We also have several top of the line sponsors, which will provide the items for the raffle!

Sponsors

Align R/C
Miniature Aircraft USA
Hobbico / Futaba
Horizon Hobby / Spektrum & JR
Outrage R/C
Audacity Models
V-Blades
ReadyHeli

Also, B&B Hobbies will be on site selling kits and parts!

Registration Info

Landing fees will be: $20 with pre-registration or $25 on-site.

To pre-register, simply send $20.00 via PayPal to torchs.membership@gmail.com. Make sure the name you have associated with your PayPal account matches the name shown on your AMA card when you show up at the field. Also, pre-registration is only available until November 30th. If you fail to pre-register prior to that date, you'll be able to register the day of the event.

Event Schedule

Friday:
8:00 AM: Field opens
9:00 AM: Pilot's meeting
8:00 AM - Dark: Open flying
After Dark: Night flying

Saturday:
8:00 AM: Field opens
9:00 AM: Pilot's meeting
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Open flying
12:00 PM - 12:45 PM: Sponsored pilot demos
12:45 PM - 1:30 PM: Non sponsored pilot contest *
1:30 PM - Dark: Open flying
4:00 PM: Auto rotation contest **
4:30 PM: Raffle!
After Dark: Night flying

Sunday:
8:00 AM: Field opens
8:00 AM - Dark: Open flying

* This is simple, we'll sign up pilots during the event who want to participate in this non sponsored pilot contest. Pilots will simply need to fly a 4 minute routine to music and will be judged based on choreography, placement, originality and technical merit. The winner will take home a trophy and a price from one of our sponsors.

** The auto rotation contest will take place at one of our flight stations, pilots can sign up during the event at the registration booth.

Hotel Info

See the flyer below for hotel information. I personally recommend the Kirkman/Universal area hotels if you want to be closer to the attractions. However, this is about a 25 to 30 minute drive to the field. Otherwise, the Altamonte Springs area has nice hotels and is about 20 minutes from the field. Finally, the Apopka hotels are not as nice, but very close to the field (about 10 minutes).

We are working hard towards making this a great event with lots of good flying.

Hope to see you all here!

I wondered why Craig's screen name is what it is. That makes so much more sense now. :YeaBaby:

Glad to know that you guys will make it Becky. So, yes we will have vendors selling parts on site :) Also, I'll post a flyer in about a week or two with directions to the field as well as hotel information. We're still working with vendors for raffle prices. Horizon Hobby is now also a sponsor!

Hi Bert & all of you out there in HeliDom. Yes, there is plenty of space for you to park your RV, trailer or camper. We do have power at the field, but I am working on a bigger service so that we can provide a better service to all of you. I have had all of the land cleared from the pits to the new highway and you can put a tent up if that's your pleasure. We will have a couple of porta-potties, the Weenie-Wagon will have food & concessions and I hope everyone comes out for a great time, it's been a long time since I have seen the helicopter crowd at the RCACF. I will be working very closely with the CD so that I can meet all of your demands and provide a great venue for a great time. Kindest personal regards, Jose

Here is the poster for the Tangerine events of December, the Helicopter blowout is the second weekend of DEC and some of you will probably be back to fly in the airshow at the end of the month. Thank you to the TORCHS, Alex, Barry, Carey for taking the time to put this on for all to enjoy, I'll be there! Joser

This poster is made in 24"x36" and will be posted at the hobbyshops. A smaller version will be available for handing out. Later, Joser.
