My fan shround on my stratus doesnt fit around the cooling fins on my engine. The head is to wide and wont fit the shroud unless its forced into it. Should I mill away the sides of the shroud so it will fit?
Thanks

I milled 3mm off each side of the head. But before I did that the shroud would fit over the head. It would touch on each side, but it would still fit and work.

you shouldn't need to really mill off anything... if you don't all it does is rub the colour of the head

It is true that the head can be squeezed into the stock shroud. It is also true that it will rub the blue coloring off of the head.

What should also be mentioned is the grey gooey nasty stuff that will also appear as this rubbing takes place. It will be all over the bottom plate and rear landing gear strut.

Throw a Viper Head on there, it fits the fan shroud PERFECT with no cutting needed. Plus you get the added benefit of dual plug reliability and smoothness.

That is the reason after I ran mine for a few flights. That I took the head off and machined about 3mm off each side of the head. It worked fine in the shroud before I did the milling. But I just couldn't stand seeing the nasty mess after each flight.
