Futaba 9350 and the Airtronics 94758Z are both good choices.

9350 on the collective and 9252 on all the control surfaces.

Anyone got any longterm experience with the Hitec digitals?

I am considering a return to the Heli (and Hirobo) fold with a Evo 90 and an eye on the Avant EFX. I wouldn't use the Karbonite geared Hitecs because I had them in a Raptor90SE and suffered sheared output shafts on Push/Pull linkages (which left me with a very dead heli), but the metal-geared ones certainly have the spec to appeal. Just wondering about accuracy and longevity/reliability.

Probably been done to death, but any input welcome.

Regards

No offence, but it sounds to me like your linkage geometry was AFU, to shear off output shafts. MANY folks use nylon geared 9252 servos on these machines, and it hasn't been an issue for them. Karbonites are even tougher to break, I've had a set of 5975s in a Fury that crashed three times, and never stripped a gear or broke a shaft.

They are now in an X-Spec performing nicely. I have been using Hitec Digitals in Helicopters and 35% IMAC planks for years, with no problems. Hitecs in eCCPM is really handy if you have their servo programmer...you can match then precisely in travel volume, speed, and centering.

No Offence taken. You could be right, but it measured fine, looked right. On reflection it might have been that the roll servo output shaft got weakened in a minor crash (which took out the elevator servo shaft) and with the loads back from the swash going right through the roll servo, it failed during a flip next time out. Big mess ensued, mucho chicken action. Wrote the Raptor off for good.

I too have run Hitechs in an IMAC (Composite Aircraft Extra, DA50, sweet bird) without issues - just so long as you can supply enough current.

I don't think I'll run the Kerbonite gear train again though. I intend to stick with metal gears - maybe the titanium geared servos, or the sligtly older 5925s - unless I decide to shell out for the Futaba 9350s. I do think the nylon output shafts are very strong (ran Futaba 9206s in a Futura SE for some time), maybe more resilient than the Karbonite - dunno.

Thanks for the reassurance that Hitechs are viable options.
