Ok, starting from scratch, what is the best electric set-up you would suggest to do AP, appart from expensive almost ready-to-shoot helis? I want your opinion!
Let's say you have money to spend, but at the same time that you want to well spend that money! Tell me about heli (logo?), co-pilote (HC?), flybarless system (V-bar?), mount (askman?), power system (6s-10s?).
What would be your set-up?

Joker Maxi 2, V/Bar, 12s, Carvec flight control with GPS and downlink, Futuba 12 - 2.4, G9. If one is to think then think big.

Is the Joker required to carry SLRs (if I ever want to carry one...)? Is there a Logo that can do the trick? Logo parts will be easier than Joker parts to get in a near futur I think.
Merci Franky92!

I am wondering, why V/Bar? Would a flybarless setup really make a big difference for AP? I thought it was more about faster cyclic for 3D and less moving parts... Any real benefits for our usage? Any longer flight times? Or any less vibrations? Just wondering what all the fuss is about... :thinking
Thanks

Flybarless can also be set to be extremely stable and docile...

I would like to get a stabilization system, probably an Helicommand, and possibly a Logo 600 3D. For a few hundreds more, the heli can be built flybarless. It is more efficient (less weight and drag) and can be set very stable for AP... However, I am open to any other set-up. The Tazer Intrepid 800 (Bergen) also looks interesting.

Here I thought I was the newbie. OK less rotational mass means less effort to spin. No Flybar, no flybar wind resistance. Less effort to spin, less energy needed to spin, less resistance, less heat, humm :thinking yeah I tink dat means longer battery life. G9 over DSLR, even with carvec it's not 100% risk free. Oh yeah G9 less weight (good camera), refer to top few lines in the mass department. Rotating or not less to turn, less to resist, less to lift, we have a three way win. If I don't since, well naa I wont start that rag, that is not unless you feel the need. But like I said afer if ya gona bust me chops, do yer homewerks. Now if you had just simply chimed in with what kind of rig you would run, wouldn't this thread have been more enlightening. How about a little less :bawl and a bit more :fly

I'm a Bergen guy. Two gas birds right now and I was very interested in the Tazor but the motors are apparently back ordered. If you insist on going electric, the other choice is the Joker range. If you've spent any time on the forums, you know some of the best AP pilots use the Jokers to good effect. I would have bought one myself but for my experience with Bergen. Bergen's customer service is outstanding and Chris or Larry will always talk to you on the phone or at the shop. Joker has less of a customer service reputation, but is better established for AP work and number of users you can as question of. HC3A is excellent tool. I have one on my gas bird and it works great. The biggest advantage is it allows me to effectively use my video down link to align shoots. I had been shooting blind for last few years. The downlink and HC combo allow me to shoot solo and get more usable shots. Best of luck

I agree that a gasser would be the best, I myself would either like the Gasser or maybe a turbine powered. I have a few clients in the state office here, that have been looking for a way to count the egg's and the hatch/lings, some other way than climbing the tree or a long ladder. They have tried the poll camera setups with minimal luck (limbs, wind and one angry raccoon that would have otherwise been less inclined to attach itself to a human). In our conversations they stated concerns about exhaust in the Nest area's. SO battery is, for at least this venue the only accepted. Were it not for this possible lane of income, I would set my sites on the Bergen Turbine Powered or the NRI Express G.
Question; at what altitude does the HC3A lose its ability to hold level control?

P.S. Ok now I gota go back to the Insane Nut Case my clients pay for, so for the young video gamers who will not understand what the heck I'm saying, :nanabobo

Tell ya what that is a two way street you haven't a clue as to why that is there and yet you seem to be doing what it is you say I am doing. I started off nice and a few crawled up my backside. But you do what you think what you need to. :nanabobo You will find how ever I don't have to curse like some to get my point across. AND ONCE THE DOOR IS OPENED I NEVER EVER BACK DOWN TILL THEY CRY UNCLE and leave me alone. I didn't even bother to retort till a few called me on it, wondering why I let it ride. Varooommmmm Beep Beep.

It has got to be the name. Everyone else in here has a screen name they use. I have had mine long before I event put text to Net. I'd say bout the same time as the 3rd or 4th pin or was it the screws, aHH I stopped counting.
Yeah that's it it's got to be my name.
Cyborg (we can rebuild him, make him better (not) and it won't cost 6 million dollars to do it).
Now when do y'all think we can get back to this thing of exchanging Information?

tell you what cyborg, We'll trade lives for a few hours.
Full time job away from home, my house just burnt the hell up, family is pretty near homeless, past two weeks with a seriously reversed income (ie: all outgoing), and I get emails and phone calls about you.
Now trying to be polite, I don't have the time or patience to deal with whiners, know-it-alls, blowhards, morons, or smart alecks.
Please refrain from inflaming situations by taking every opportunity to fill pixel space on people's monitors. Be constructive or find yourself on the outside looking in like many others have that also could not follow the few simple rules we have here.
have a wonderful evening.

I am sorry to hear of your lose. I can't even imagine losing my house. Being away from home must be in the water as I spend about 6 months away my self. Now I will make it easy for you to put your constant influx of complaints to rest. Close an the lock the door. I didn't start this farse but, at this point I have been backed into a corner. I don't take spanking's from anybody. Had you the time (which you do not with all the other that is going on) you would find I didn't gouge this pony. Now I am to a point where I have no choice but to Rip em out. I make my living by being Nice and Polite, but like that big wheel, sometimes they won't let you do it nice - and - easy. Neither of us have a choice now. Once you lock the door I will retort but one time just for grins cause I can.
Good luck with rebuilding, my insurance agent had me list everything right down to the toothpaste in the pantry and all I had was a tree fall on part of my house.
