I have completely lost my mind guys.

Bob does an overview of the 9303 gyro menu on the T-Rex 500 set-up page-- I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm trying to follow it but I just can't get it.
I have a 9 channel receiver (R921)

I think he set it to have a different sensitivity in each of the 3 flight modes, but I can't wrap my head around it..

Did you enable gyro on one the of the channels in the Device Sel menu? Either Aux2 or Aux3

Yeah I did that.
And then in the gyro menu you set it to auto if you want the flight switch working it?
Is that the best way or is there another channel people like to set it to so they can switch the sensitivity seperately?

I'm having issues with mine too(x9303 and 401). Gyro is enabled in device select under Aux2. When I goto travel Adjustment, "aux2" doesn't say anything. It will not allow me to adjust it. Not sure if this would or not. I then have the main cable from the gyro plugged into RUDD (4th port). I believe this is per the Align manual.

Any things I should look for or anything I need to change?

Thanks!

OK, you go to the Gyro Sen selection on the main menu. If you leave it off, you would set gyro gain by the Aux 2 end points. The other selections are Auto and Manual.

In the Gyro Sen menu, if you select Auto, you will get two sections to the menu. The one in the middle is where you set the 3 gains you want to use. The one in the upper right is where you select which gain to use for each Flight Mode.

You CAN set all three gain settings to the same, or you can pick the same gain setting for all three Flight Modes.

So you can set Gain 0 to 55%, Gain 1 to 65% and Gain 3 to 75%. Then you can set each Flight Mode to the desired gain. So you could set Norm -> Gain 1, Idle 1 -> Gain 0, Idle 2 -> Gain 0. They don't have to be in order, or you can use only 1 or 2, or all three.

Right now on my Vibe 50, I have all three gains set to the same, but I also have all three Flight Modes set to Gain 0. But I am only flying Normal to break in the engine anyway. :)

If you set the Gyro Sense to Manual, IIRC (the manual isn't clear, but I will check later on my XP9303 I carry for simming), you will get two gains settings for the two switch positions of the Rudder D/R switch (Aux 2).

Just wanted to say thanks. I was able to get the gyro into HH mode. We're getting closer to actually trying to hover this heli.

Is it true that you cannot use the "Gear" channel (Channel 5) on the X9303 for the gyro (i.e. cannot select it for gyro use on the "Device Select" menu?

Thank you in advance.

Only Aux 2/3 can be selected for the Gyro gain function. If you are using a 6 channel RX, then EPA is the answer. I now use EPA with all receivers (6/7/9 channel); that keeps things consistent from one model to another.

Thank you for the response.

A friend of mine could not get any response when changing the gyro gain from the gyro sense menu of his X9303.

He was using a 6 channel reciever.

Now I know why it did not work.

Thank you again.

Don't feel bad.. Whirly Girl was in chat one night, very frustrated 'cuz the tail on her 450 V2 wouldn't hold. I told her the same thing - you can't use the Gyro Sens menu with a 6ch Rx. She disappeared for 20 mins and came back in happy as a clam... Changed to endpoints and problem solved.

Hi, can someone please explain how I can setup my gyro and use the gear channel with my ar6100 rx and my ar7100 rx with the x9303 instead of the aux2 channel as stated in the x9303 manual?
Thanks

Use end points on the gear channel. Leave the gear switch mapped to the gear switch and set the endpoints for gain. The endpoints go from -150 to +150. Anything on the + side is Heading Hold mode and anything on the - side is rate mode.

In the TRVL ADJ menu, cursor to the GEAR channel and use the roller to dial in the numbers you want. Flick the gear switch to change the endpoint you wish to adjust.

I am glad that they corrected this on the 12X. You can select the gear channel for use with the gyro menu and use it with a 6-Channel reciever.

Not happy at all.
After they have realised it is a problem they should have allowed a SW upgrade to 9303 TX also,
I would gladly buy the USB link for this.

I hope some1 from JR/Horizon read these thread.

If you are using ATV off the gear channel, how does my gyro sense menu gain from the DX7 translate to % + in the ATV on the x9303?

I currently am running 71% gain on my dx7 gyro sense menu, what gain should I be running on the x9303?

Thanks,

Dan

GYRO TX 0 20 50 90 100
ATV TX -90 -54 0 72 90
gyro sensitivity 100 60 0 80 100
NORMAL ----->>>> AVCS

calculating gyro sens from gyro menu: 90-50 = 40 40 / 50 = 80%
calculating gyro sens from ATV menu: 72 - 40 = 32 32 / 40 = 80%

so 71% gain on gyro menu:
71 - 50 = 21 / 50 * 40 = 17
17 + 40 = 67 on the ATV menu

At least this works for the GY401...

If you're using end points, dial up the gain you'd expect to see at the gyro. The endpoints don't do all that crazy math the gyro menu does. Somewhere in the mid 30s would be a good place to start.

Try this post I think this will do the trick.

I was having the same issue when I first got my Radio.

This made it all clear after that.
