I've mentioned this project on a few times here, but have not posted a separate thread, keeping my build log over on SRCH. I finally got it maidened yesterday, so I thought I'd post some pics....

This will be a Navy TH-57 Sea Ranger (the Navy's primary rotary trainer) on a Century/FunKey 60 size Jet Ranger, using TRex 600E mechanics, much modified:

Rotorworx frames
Stretched to 60 size with modified boom and tail drive
Reversed rotation (left hand) with tail on port side
Kontronic 45-08 motor
CC-85HV ESC
8S lipo (2x 4S5000 in series)
Flybarless w/ Skookum SK360
Century Predator head/ grips
OF 670 Left hand blades
OF swash and follower
Vario links

It has taken me 8 months to this point and it's a relief to finally get it in the air, and everything worked PERFECTLY! :YeaBaby:

From initial data, it looks like 10-12 minute flights will be no problem at all.

Here's some shots:

Lots more to do yet, but at least it's now a helicopter!:P

I've seen the thread on ScaleRCHeils. That head looks amazing!! Throw some windows on there and it could be the real thing! Congrats on the maiden flight.

Thanks!

Couple more teasers of the cockpit, which is entirely scratch built (except the pilot, and printed instrument faces) from balsa, styrene, brass and aluminum... it's almost finished.

Paint 'booth' is up in the garage, going to start spraying primer tomorrow...

Where is the emoticon for drooling?

:drool::drool::drool:

There it is!

When done with that one, you will have to build another so we can watch the progress on that one.
