Hello all,

I’m a First time Helo guy. I have read and read all I can on a lot of forums.

I’m a 15 year veteran electric and nitro gas car driver. But this is my first time flying anything of this nature.

I have read that a first time flyer should get a HoneyBee cp2 or a Blade.

What I have done so far is buy a Realflight G3 sim. It should be here Sat.

My question to you all is should I just buy the Bee for $124 and play with that or
Try to find a Use TRex 450x with radio and all and buy training gear.

For the Rex I really don’t know what is good or not good.
Motor
Esc
Li-po cell’s
Radio
JR or Futaba
Blade toner aka pitch gauge.

Hovering seem to be the key not now blowing up blades when taking off and landing.

I see a lot of people buying the bee and upgrading it to make it do 3D and making it easier to fly.

By the time you do this you could have had the real deal (TRex).

For 1.8 gas cars the radio is the first Key to starting off on a good foot.

I always tell a new racer to get the best radio you can get and build from there.

Your radio will out last you 10x.
With that said do I do the same with Helo?

I’m I asking to much for a first time flyer?

Thank you all for looking and your time

JD.

I'd say the same rule applies on the radios, just get a good one to start if u can and stick with it.

I have both helis, HB/Blade and the t-rex. My vote goes to the t-rex in every catagory except initial cost. It's quite a bit more expensive to outfit the t-rex but I find it flies easier/better and my repair costs are actually lower on the t-rex. The main blades for example are about $12 or so for the t-rex and about $17 for the HB/Blade at my LHS. The HB/Blade doesn't have a heading hold gyro so u have to work a little harder to manage the tail, but IF u manage to get thru the learning curve on the HB/Blade u'll be VERY comfortable with tail management. For 3D the t-rex wins easily. That's my $0.02 FWIW.
