View Full Version : Time to upgrade from honey bee fp to belt cp?

I am flying a honey bee fp now and can fly it pretty good at the park. I can do some pretty fast forward flight and change directions real quick even in 10-12 mph winds. The only thing is that it doesn't handle the wind to good and the landing gear is really weak when the smallest crash occurs. What I am wanting to know is do you guys think I am ready to step up to something like the belt cp? I was looking at getting a e smart but it's way to expensive for my pockets. I had a king 2 but didn't like it and had lots of trouble with it. A trex is also out of the question so a belt cp seemed to be the best option. Also I looked at other cp helis with tail motors like the walkera 22e. I just think not having a belt would be easier to mess with vs having a belt.

Hi UAV_PILOT
The Belt CP is a good cheap CP brushless starter heli. Replacement parts are not to expencive but most of us prefer to upgrade after a crash. Some of these upgrades are the servo's ,cnc head and tail etc but these upgrades are done after the pilot gets out of the crashperiod that everyone goes thru.
This is just my opinion and I am sure my forumfriends will add there opinion. This way you get a more objective summary of the Belt CP

What about going to an esmart? To much heli?

If you can fly the HBFP, you can fly almost anything larger. The right answer is "get all you can afford" This will prove to be the cheapest in the long run. Most of us have several generations of helis "on the way up" to what we really want.

The Belt-CP frame often reminds me of the way a Blade 400 frame is designed. Speaking of it, I think a Blade 400 RTF is a great way to go. The Blade 400 is a great heli, and you get an awesome radio with it (DX6i), you won't have to buy another radio ever again...unless you are planning to own more than 10 models. It's probably more than you're willing to pay, but I still think it's a great value for all the things you get at such a price.
I suggested a Blade 400, but if you really want the Belt-CP, go for it! I recommend it over the King 2, since it seems to require a lot less modifications/upgrades and overall less money. It'll handle great in the wind, compared to the King 2 that will sometimes get pushed around.

Btw, the Honeybee King 3 and Belt-CP 2 will be coming out soon enough. I think I read that their release is in September, but I'm not entirely sure. Perhaps it would be a good thing for you to wait just a little longer and then buy either one of those birds. It could save you some cash in the long run.
You can find info about both of em on Google. You can also pre-order them at Jaghobbies.com and take a look at their "previews" of both of the models.
Esky is also releasing the "Esky 900," a 500 size heli for a more affordable cost. I think it looks pretty awesome, a pre-order is available at RC711.com...but a 500 size heli isn't exactly what you would want to go for after a Honeybee FP  but I thought I'd just bring it up.

yes, yes, get an ES600, starting from scratch you can get one built and in the air for about $750, which compared to any other heli this size, its dirt cheap. It would take you a bit to get over the fear of it, but you would grow to love it. I had all the ESky line and sold them all except the ES600, theres just no reason to fly anything else. Of course space is a huge factor, I have tons of wide open places to fly within minutes of my house, these need room. A medium size park or yard is great for learning to hover and get more comfortable, then get to a large field/open space and have some FF fun. But to really let her loose you want a HUGE space, but at that point it becomes extremely fun. you have the room to do anything you want, and since they are so big you can fly higher while maintaining good visability of the heli, that will give you more time to recover from a bad move. Also you can fly the ES600 in almost any amount of wind. No more having to worry about a breeze coming by and taking your heli with it. Not to mention how stable it is. Go set your HBFP on the table and spin it up with out taking off, you are now flying the ES600  You have the skills for a CP but if you can def get a ES600. you won't regret it :YeaBaby:

Going up to an ES600 after a Honeybee FP? That's a huge move, but wouldn't discourage it. That would really be interesting.
...however, the guy says it's a bit too expensive for him, compared to one such as the Belt-CP. Otherwise, I'd totally recommend the ES600...or the awaited Esky 900 that comes out next month.

if you want to go to a belt cp hold off as the belt cp 2 is about to be released, only $10 us dollars difference between that and the new king2 just released, beter head ant tail setup to no plastic balls on the plastic head anymore and a better tail pitch slider

Well I already bought a belt cp and now I am ready for a es600! I am pretty good at flying the belt cp around. I can do pretty good forward flight but I don't think I am ready to invert my heli just yet.

If you can do FF on your Belt CP, then sell all your helis and get an ES600 (if you have the space for one) 10 times better then the Belt CP and so much more stable. Loops and flips are really easy on this heli, not so much with the Belt CP though.
