I am 1 1/3 gallon new to nitro :thumbup: so engine tuning is new to me.

-What is the ideal head and back plate temps to shoot for on this engine?

-Does anyone tune nitro engines with the exhaust temps?

-What settings on the mixture needle and main needle have you settled around?

I've been running this motor now for 5-6 gallons and it is a great powerplant. I settled with the carbsmart, set at 90C with about 75% travel from full rich to full lean. At full lean, it's about 1.8 turns out, and full rich about 2.2 maybe.

THe engine really woke up a few clicks under 2 turns. As far as temp, I use the finger on the backplate test to ensure that I'm not running overly lean, and it comes down warm, but not hot after every flight (i.d., can hold finger in the backplate for 5-10 seconds without issue)
