Tennessee Museum of Aviation is hosting an Exposition with a fly-in at the Sevier county airport in Sevierville, TN.
There will be open flying for all types of R/C aircraft including turbine jets.
(Seperate, dedicated flightlines for R/C and Fullscale)
The local R/C club is asking for any experienced Heli pilots to attend for Demonstration flights.
They are working with local accomodations to get a rate for ALL pilots attending.
Wives and kids can visit and shop in nearby Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the Smokey Mountain National Park. Dollywood and other attractions are within 30 miles.
All the museums flying aircraft will be flown, including two restored P 47's.
The P-38 'Glacier Girl' is expected to attend.
Frequency control will be provided by the Smokey Mountain Aero Club, and flying will be open from can see to can't see, not just an 'intermission sideshow'.
Admission to the Museum displays will be free to all pilots.
Here's your chance to show off those skills in front of the public!
Contact information will be posted shortly.

edited for contact phone number.
CD is David Willis.
A turbine waivered co-CD would be useful.

Dave Willis is a long time heli pilot. I have known Dave for over 10 years.
Why would they need a turbine waivered CD?

I am a CB and a rotary turbine waiver holder. But I was still allowed as a CD to sign off for turbines before I held the waiver.

Simply stated, knowledge.
This is second hand, and subject to interpretation.
Turbine planks were invited last year, and close to the event they were cancelled.
The reason I was given was no one locally knew the safety requirements.
It may be an embellishment from the source, or my interpretation of the conversation, but They want turbine powered A/C, and want to do it safe and right.
Espescially considering it will be in front of a crowd of spectators...

That really is no excuse. The Contest Director of the event should know what is required. He gets the information in the sanction package when he receives it. Also the turbine pilots know what is required of them . That is how they got the waiver, they had to show they knew what is required for safe operation of the aircraft.

I would think Dave Willis would know all this. He is not a newbie in the hobby and I know he has been into helis at least 15 years or so.

No arguement David, This is what was relayed to me. I probably should not have repeated it, but I figured if someone else showed up, the more the merrier.
