Hi everyone, My name is Dylan and I just got a Blade CP as an early Christmas present. I was looking for a good place to find some info and after a short time here I found a goldmine and had to join up!
I have been into RC vehicles for about 17 years (with a LONG hiatus) and driving my Nitro trucks (Revo and MT2) for about a year now and after seeing what these Heli's can do I had to get one and try it out myself!
I'm 30yrs old and have nothing but time on my hands since being on the losing end of an Auto VS. Pedestrian hit and run. I don't have the $ to get a SIM anytime soon so I am going to go at this with the ole' Trial and Error approach, with lots of baby steps! Being a certified adreneline addict, 3D is definately in my future, but first I gotta figure out how to get the canopy off and the training skids on! Seriously... do I just squeeze the rubber and slide them through the canopy?
I do tend to babble sometimes, so feel free to tell me to shorten it up, and I apologize before hand for any really dumb questions I may (read "will") ask!
Happy Holidays to all, and thanks for having a great site to get my feet wet in!

Welcome to Helifreak! Congrats on the heli it a good trainer for not much money just take it slow and you will be ok. If you look on ebay or around here there is someone probably with a sim for sale. Also there is no stupid question on this website and everyone here is awsome and if you stay with us we are going to leave RR in the dust. :glasses2:

just slide the gromets off of the graphite shafts. There are small holes in rubber be very carful because it is quit a stretch for the back ones. It does fit very tight with batt. in place.
The tranning gear use rubber bands small ones. loop them around the gear and around the Tgear and finish up on the skids. Do all four.
Good luck Glad to see you giving it a go. once you start it's hard to stop this hobby is like a drug and it is Addictive!!!!

Thank you for joining!! Welcome.
You can learn witha Blade, it is gonna be a little slower depending on you. The most improtant thing you could do ow is get a little help from someone who lives nearby you. I bet there are definitely some heli people near CO Springs.
What kind of TX do you have?

very first thing to tweak a Blade CP is to take a small needlenosed pliers and gently squeeze the links from the sides to free them up.
Leaving the links on the balls, just a little squeeze at a time. If you can free the links to where you lightly touch them with a finger, they rotate, You are done.
Do this to all links.
The servos are on the weak side, any drag on the links will prevent good centering and you'll have a harder time learning to hover and fly.
Should take >5 minutes and is time very well spent.

Thanks guys! I aplogize for posting and then not coming back for sooo long!!! I couldn't find my way back! I'm back now though!
I managed to get airborne and hover for about 30 seconds on my 3rd pack, and you are right... I AM ADDICTED !!! I love RC's of allkinds, but it was just such a great feeling to fly! There has been too much wind around here lately, and I have some probs with the Heli, but I'll get to them later. I just wanted to touch base and say HI to you all! Thanks for the support!
Oh and Baja170, I have the stock TX, I don't know who makes it, but maybe Eflight did?

Just wait till you do some forward flight and figure 8's :)

I hear that!! I don't wanna do much more until I can get a flight sim though, too much at risk since I have a VERY low budget for RC's! I'll get there sooner or later though.

Cheap as in free sim = http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html
You can buy an adapter and use your TX or you can pick up a PC Gamepad from Wal Mart and get going.

Thanks for the tip, I will check out that sim asap!
Also, I was able to actually fly the other day! I took the heli to the LHS and found out that the motor was bad and that the blades were pitched wrong. The only guy at the LHS that has any RC experience got those things fixed up (although he didn't tell me what the correct pitch for it was, just like Horizon when I asked them!) and showed me what a good stable hover looks like right there in the store.
I went home and worked on hovering a little more (amazing what a good motor and correct setting can do for a heli huh!?!), then decided to see how high I could take it up and remain stable. I'll tell ya what, I found out just how fast a guy can lose control of one of these! I managed to put 'er on the ground rather harsh, but nothing major, and then of course I just had to do it again! After a few of my "killer" 30-40' high hovers, I decided to go for some foward flight. With a full pack I set the heli on the ground, took 'er up about 20' or so, and then proceeded to walk up the street about 200' and landed buttery smooth tail-in just like I took off!! :glasses: Yep I'm a Heli GOD now!!! Yeah right  not long afterwards I came within a few inches of a chain-link fence, barely pulled away in time and then proceeded to land WAY TOO HARD and smacked one of the blades on the asphalt, which made the heli hop and shudder when I tried to take off again, knocked a blade out of balance right?? I took a decent chunk out of the end of both blades, but when I took them off and powered up slowly to see if the heli would still shake it didn't and the mainshaft looks true. I took one of my original blades and tried it with the better of my newer ones, and there is a small shudder but nothing that seems too bad at all, although I do know that vibrations are BAD on a heli !!
So anyways, I was feeling pretty good about my 2 days of flying, that is until I looked at a pic in the newest XtremeHeli mag and saw C.Youngblood flyin' 2500' !!!
I know he is one of the best and all, but geeze, how can he even tell which end is which at that height?? I can't wait to get better and better with these, I am ADDICTED!!!
Do you guys think you could do me a little favor?? :?: Since I only have Dial-Up right now I can't watch videos very easy, actually I pretty much have to download them to my computer. So what I am wondering is this: Could you guys hook me up with some links to the better videos here (or elsewhere if you know of some good ones)?? I haven't seen very many videos of heli's at all, so any good ones are fine for me, although I'd like to see more 3D than just buzzing around. I would like to see some vids of some good basic flying as well though. Thanks in advance guys!!

I can burn you a CD with a few good vids on it and mail it ot you, no problem. PM Me.
Glad to hear you stuck with it and are flying!!
I don't know much about hte blade, but be careful mixing and matching blades. Vibs are bad in an electric heli.

Cool thanks guys! I just bought Ultimate 3D w/Alan Szabo Jr. I figure that for the price of a crash kit I could have a video that I can watch on my DVD anytime I do happen to crash!
I don't wanna bore you with the details like last time, but I got my best flight ever last night, flying over grass gave me alot more confidence than asphalt! I stayed up for almost the whole pack and even managed to pull off a 4 turn piorette during one of my few trips across the yard and back in a rocking motion!!
I can't believe how much harder it is to hover tail-out than "in"! I got brave and managed to make my first "out"landing last night too, it was a little rough but I got 'er down!
I don't know if I should start a new thread or not, but I'd like to know what you guys think about buying some cf blades rather than the stock wooden?? They sell for about twice as much here ($34). My main concern is damage prevention, one decent strike on the asphalt with the wood and the tips get fouled up and have even twisted a little. I am going to try to avoid flying over the street or driveway as much as possible, but there will be times when I either fly there or not at all.
I can't wait to see some of the vids from you guys here!
