Is the 12Z already or supposed to be discontinued?

The thing is that I've noticed that there's almost no shop that do have it in stock and I really don't think that it's due to their "overwhelming" success...
I would like something that is as close as possible to my 14MZ (which is currently serviced)... not being able to transfer my models to a 12FG is really stopping me... so the only alternative is the 12Z... and buying a radio that won't exist anymore 6 months from now isn't very exiting

I think that's total speculation. I talked to the Futaba folks at IRCHA and brought up the fact that the 12Z doesn't seem to be advertised much, at least it's not on the front pages anymore, especially since the 12FG was introduced. They said that Futaba was just pushing the newest radio but that they did not know of any plans to discontinue the 12Z any time soon. You'll notice that they're really pushing the new 10C right now, which isn't a half bad system either.
The 12Z is compatible with the 14MZ, flight program wise, with the exception that the 14 allows for longer model names (32 characters I think) and the 12 is limited to 8 so the 12 won't see the 14's program if the model name is too long. It's easy enough to rename it down to 8 characters or less and then everything will work fine. Personally, I think the 12Z is the best "bang for the buck." You get all the power of the 14MZ's flight program without the added fluff, most of which I'd never use anyway.
FWIW!
