View Full Version : Stock Rotor Blades Question

I just got a Shogun V2 for Christmas. I have some experience with Electric Helis. I have had a Blade CP for about 6 months and can fly it pretty well. I am trying to start slow with my Shogun because it is so expensive to fix.

It came with the rotor blades that have the fiberglass rod in them. I assume these are really strong and that is why they did it. I crashed today because I was a little too bold :-(.

The question I have is how well do the stock $17.00 blades do? I don't want to spend $35 on the fiberglass blades or even more on the carbon fiber because I know I will probably trash a few more sets before I get to the point that I will need stronger blades for 3D flying and such.

I just wanted to know how well the cheaper blades will hold up to regular hover and simple forward flight?

The stock blades are fine for what you are using them for. I found them a little too flexible for much 3D. They hold up very well unless, of course, they are crashed. :)

Thank you for your quick reply. I will use the cheap ones then until I am ready to go 3D.

xmseller on eBay has some wood blades for a decent price, much more reasonable than stock replacements!

After replacing several stock blades, I went with the fiberglass ones. First flight yesterday, and they seemed "heavy," and not very responsive to throttle changes. Is this a bad characteristic, or is this what the big boys (experienced 3D flyers) want in a blade?

I'm not buying from xmseller anymore.. he sent me some defective parts, and to replace the 1oz. parts I paid myself, and had to add 11.50 s&h... FYI..

Run the woods. The fiber ones are OK to bang around but as you advance they flex too much and are prone to boomstrike :(
