My Bantam BC6 charger gets very hot when charging 22.2v 6s 2500mah lipos.

I understand it uses max effect (50w) when charging these batteries (2.2-2.3A)

Is it normal that the charger gets very hot to touch?

It would only get hot when you max out the 50 watts like you have. That is why the case is all metal and is used to disapate the heat.
