Well guys, i am finally going to take the plunge and try some hover tail in on monday at my club (as long as there is not to much wind:YeaBaby:) without the training gear.
Been flying for 2 months and think its about time, been having a mixed time flying for the last 2-3 weeks, some good flights some really bad:o.
One thing i would like to ask before my maiden flight is that the tail on my CP keeps jumping right in hover, only about 3-5 inchs and only to the right, tried everything to stop this.
Using DX6i, stock head, cnc tail, digi esky tail servo, sg90's on rest, esky hh gyro/A, tracking is good, balance is good, just cant figure out why it keeps jumping.
Any help :thinkingwith this before sunday will ensure the heli is as stable as it can be before i take the steps to take the training gear off:smokin:
Thanks
Lee

put your best and quickest servo on the tail!!!!!!!!!!

Definately, change that servo first. Swapping with the elevator servo would be best I think, if your desperate to keep your bird flying! But replace the e-sky one with a new SG90 or better tail servo if you can afford it!
If the problem still persist's, check all bearings run smooth that hold the drive shafts - 3 on the Main shaft, 2 on Tail Drive Shaft and 2 on Tail output shaft. If some of them are not running smooth, it could cause same problem (tail jumps right) when you are adjusting the throttle.

Jump right, did you mean a sudden 3-5 inch spin to right once a while? If yes then is your Esky HH gyro problem, not your servo or anything else. My previous Esky HH gyro did that to me too then I put in Telebee to solve the problem.

This happened to me recently and I found that my gyro was coming loose, I reattached with zip ties to make sure it stayed in place and the problem went away.
I am also just about ready to take my first flight without the training gear.....good luck and let us know how it goes.

Was going to get a new gyro but theres so many to choose from might go for the new HH/B from esky?
Cheers

Best of luck Chris, the heli looks so much better without the T-G, and will handle better too.

Stumpe and Chris. Can I just say, after your second flight with no training gear you will find it super easy. It also looks much better without those huge sticks coming off the heli.
Finally you will have to put some effort into landing. But its fun! After your 3rd or 4th flight you will find landing very very easy and you will wonder why you didn't take them off sooner:)
Oh yea and one more thing. When you put the heli on the floor and start to spin it up. Don't get scared and leave it on the floor with the blades spinning because you will never end up taking off. You just have to take off and forget about it.
Hope you fix your tail problem before the day stumpie:thumbup:

Jonny's right - watch your landings, make sure you get that rotor disc nice and level and take her down gently

Yeah...good luck stumpe hope it goes well and you relax enough after take-off to enjoy it!!
Only word of advice would be - Don't let your first battery get too low or you could get into trouble bringin her in & tryin to keep the tail level!!
I didn't know a loose gyro can also cause same symptoms, so I'm just off to pop a cable-tie on my gyro to be sure!!

If the gyro can move it stands to reason that a tiny movement could be perceived as a rotation and it would therefore try to correct for it and actually cause the rotation. However there could be other reasons. Don't pull the cable tie too tight though as they are also sensitive to vibration and the more firmly it is fixed to the heli the more likley it is to be affected. I once experienced a very weird tail and it turned out it was vibration from a slightly bent tail shaft. Changed the shaft, no more vibration, tail was perfect again.

Well guys, checked and double checked and triple checked as much as i can for now, will put a couple of batterys through to get the tail set up better before the big splash down(will also check gyro), just not had enough time today (missus :DOHetc etc etc)
Did find the esky digi servo i had on for the tail was cracked at one of the points were it screws into the servo mount on the tail, replaced and have put a new sg90 on the tail.
thanks for all the tips, will report back tomorrow afternoon on what happened:lol:
Cheers

Hey Stumpe, where do you fly in Essex. Been trying to find somewhere to fly near Thurrock. Isn't this %$£^ing wind driving you insane. It's typical, as soon as I buy a heli is starts blowing like mad! Perhaps I should invest in a kite too ;)
Sounds like I'm almost at the same level as you too. Just need to get my CG sorted. (way too tail heavy at the moment..)

Well guys, FU@~#** wind so no flight at all, over there for 3 hours this morning and no less than 20mph winds so rather they chance my luck i will leave it to another day.
Got up this morning and very nice got to the club and wind, wind, wind.wind, wind, wind.
Although did get to see a Trex700 loose power twice about 60-80 ft in the air (pucker that butt time), pilot did amazing to land both times without any problems at all:clappp
Just hope i can learn to fly that good one day
Thanks

Stumpie. You are going to learn very quick being around other rc heli flyers that are very good. Unfortunatly there is no club near me so I cant get to see other rc heli pilots:P
Grant is an awsome example. He was learning 3D after a few weeks of flying his belt cp. When he got to meet other people he was learning new stuff regularly. And now he might be getting a sponsor and he hasn't even been flying for a year yet.
Give it a few months and you will be pulling off awsome 3D manuveres. Thats if you stick to it.
As for me. Next time I go to the field I will be pushing myself to the max. I have 3 batteries now because of the trex 500:D I'd better be careful with the batteries I use for the T500. I don't want to taco my new packs:YeaBaby:
