Rebuilding Stratus SUCKS!!
I guess this is a why there is a new output shaft and gear with set screws.
mine broke were the pin goes through the output shaft. I recomend that if you have one of these you get the new one and replace it. This was only on a 70 machine.
Tail output shaft broke in flight and I was inverted only about 20ft up.
Went to hold to minimize damage it did work to some extent but got both frames, gear, mainshaft, spindle and muffler, luckly it didn't get the boom I would have rather gotten the boom than the frames.
Oh well what do you do. RR I guess!! keep flying

That stinks...
The open tailbox has been problamatic since the get go...
I bet Tim is regretting the day he even thought of that thing. :D
I have been kicking the idea of putting one in my Ion.
The closed box has been working great so I keep talking myself out of it.
Maybe this is why. :D

Sorry to hear about the wreck.... This has been said before, but for the sake of others, some of the "pinned" tail rotor shafts produced last year that people were/are using had problems because the manufacturer who built them hardened them too much. This issue has been solved, the new shafts with the dimples on them (not pinned) have had no failures to the best of my knowledge. Min Air has initiated some additional quality controls on the process now to avoid any additional issues.
If you have a pinned shaft you are using, you may want to look into changing it out.
Good Luck and Happy New Year! Hope to see everyone in Maryland for the MHA fun fly the first weekend in June!

Yes you can send them back to MA and they will replace the shafts.
But probably for what the postage will cost here is the replacement setup.

The frames broke because of a side impact. landed on the muffler When I had talked to Eric Larson about parts he had suggested frames in case of a side impact and was right. it broke the left side up front were the radio gear is on the lower part were the canopy mount is bolted on and broke the right one just under the opening for the throttle servo and the little piece that the canopy mount bolts to also.
