Hello
I have a Century Hawk Pro that have all upgrades (so it's a 50 size now)
So i wanna know what gyro that is the best for 50 size 3d!
Should it be Futaba GY-401 or Futaba GY-601 that i'm going to buy?
Regards René
P.S. sorry if I don't spell so good english - I'm from Denmark :glasses:

The 601 is a good one but it has been discontinued here. Try the 611 or any gy series from futaba.

Your english is fine!
The Futaba GY 611 is the new 'hot' gyro, and will perform in FAI or 3D very well.

You guy's seem to have a dislike for JR gear, I'd take a JR500T in a second over any of the 4 401's I've owned. The 611 is supposed to be a very good Gyro but the one making the biggest splash in my neck of the woods is the JR 7000t. Funny the 401 would get recommended as a 3d gyro over those two. wern't the top 5 guys, or something like that, at the worlds F3C in Spain using the 7000T this year?
Maybe it's just me but I've found the piro rate on the 401 to be consistantly inconsistant. Especially so in FF practising piroing circles. You can 3d a 401 sure but would you really take one over one of the newer JR gyros?

I have never owned a JR product so thats why I vouch for futaba. Why would I comment on something that I have never used or owned. The original poster does not sound like he is an advanced hot dog 3D pilot so why blow the money on the JR gyro when he can get a 401 that he can fly with until he works into that level. The 500t is a good gyro I bet but comparable in price with the other high ends, So why does JR not offer a gyro comparable to the 401 for the same money. Just a thought and my 02

Weren't those guys sponsored by JR? I don't know for sure.

The 401 sucks ass!!! The 601 and 611 are the best for 3D, as for JR they have been so far behind for so many years that wile they might be coming along they definetly are not recognized as being the best by the majourity of the best pilots.

I have owned 2 601s 1 611 and 3 401s and have been pleased with them. Also with the mini electrics the gyro of choice is the 401

Hello
Sorry my late answer.
I had crossed the "Notify me when a reply is posted" but it doesn't work?
Thank you guys for the answers! It sounds like that the GY-601 is the one that i'm looking for. The GY-611 is a bit to expensive for my budget and it sounds like the GY-401 is to small for 3d?

The GY601 is discontinued. The GY 601 and GY 611 were/are selling for the same price. I would suggest getting the GY 611, from Rick's R/C the GY 611 is $320.00 USD I believe. If your on a tight budget, the GY 401 /9254 will work fine. There is a lot of them being used on 50 size helis. I personally don't think the GY 401 will limit your ability in any way.

DavidAllright thank's I think its gonna be a GY-401 then like that i have in my Vario Huey :D :glasses:
P.S.
In Denmark the price for the GY-611/S9256 is 475$
In Germany the price for the GY-611/S9256 is 437,5$
In Germany the price for the GY-601/s9251 is 355$
So you could be very happy over there in the united states for the very low price! :noteworthy
I could buy it from USA but the shipping will be so expensive that it's gonna be the same price :( :?

Rick's RC the GY 611/9256 is $320. I will take a guess and shipping to Denmark is probably $30. But you can email Rick's R/C and ask what the total price shipped to you will be.
Rick's gets $180 for the GY 401/9254 combo.
I think most of the vendors that advertise here on Helifreak will probably be in the same price range on the objects. Shipping outside the USA is not really expensive on smaller items.

The 401 will work. The 611/9256 will be far better.
The prices your looking at a probably Robbe Futabas. Robbe distributes Futabe here in Europe, and for adding their sticker on the product they charge a HUGE amount of money.
My advise is to import the gyro from the States, or take a look at www.rchelistore.com. rchelistore is in Belgium but imports directly from Futaba.

When we ship from USA to Denmark we got a very bad account (i thinks it's called that)
Normal 1 US $ kost 6,3 kroner in the moment when we ship from USA we got 1 US $ for around 8,5 kr. the shipment is not so bad again a little below 30 $
your advise is a very good advise :D its very cheap! Around 80 $ cheaper than in Denmark! Can i get a link to Rick's RC please?

To get the prices I have quoting from Rick's R/C. When you go to Rick's website. Look on the front page near the top and towards the center. You will see this paragraph.
http://www.ronlund.com/
If you're going to be buying some new radio gear or an engine, be sure to check this quote.
Click Here.
Click on the Click Here at the bottom of the paragraph. Then Click on the Click Here for Quote. An email box will pop up. Do not do anything to the email. Just hit send and sent it as it popped up. Usually it only takes less than 10 mins and you will get an email back with all the current prices on electronics and engines from Rick's. This is how Rick's gets around the MAP( mininum advertised price) that the distributors here in the USA have the hobby shops adhere to.

Hello!
I have baugt the GY-401 with a s9254 servo (if it isn't good enough - or how to spell it - i'll just use it in my vario uh-1d) I have some truble with the servo (it gives a bad sound) I have tryed everything and it won't go away :(
I have a Futaba T9CP (FF9-Super) and the "gyro sens" program :
Mode->GY
Mix->Act
Rate-up->(how many %?)
Down->(how many %?)
SW->F
Somebody please help me to set it correct.
The gyro's got 0 Delay and 60 Limit (minimum-std)
Please help im kind of new in futaba gyro's :oops:
DavidH

In the gyro program. The up and down is refering to the position that Switch F is currently positioned.
Rate up ( for example lets say you have 45% set in that rate) that would be the sensitivity of the gyro when the switch in the up position.
Down, same as above except the sensitivity would be what it is set for switch in down position.
Set the precentage about 45-50% in each switch postion and go fly.
It is perfectly normal for the 9254 to make a buzzing or high pitch whining sound.
You need to worry when the servo is not making the sound.

Allright!
How about the gyro?
I mean the Delay and the Limit, is that correct?
DavidH
01-11-2006, 12:12 PM
The delay is correct for using the 9254 servo.
The LMT is what sets the travel of the tail rotor pitch slider. Just adjust the LMT till the slider is just slightly binding at full deflection both directions.
You did get instuctions with the GY 401/9254 didn't you?

Is this your first digital servo? The "bad" sound you hear is the buzzing because its constantly seeking its center point.
