I tried to put a 60 tooth secondary in my Ion but there wasnt enough room in the sliding trays to let it in and have the proper lashing. Basically it would go in but was really tight. Enough so that I wouldnt dare run it. Just wondered what others were doing to get these gears in.

Slot the motor holes a bit and it should be fine. This will give you a bit more adjustment.
You may also have to grind off a bit of the round hole the motor sits in although I don't recall having to do that with mine.

I have used the 52 and 60T setups and never had to cut or grind anything. I just removed or loosened all of the appropriate cap heads and put the new gears in.

I should mention that mine was installed with a 13T pinion. Hence the need to slot mine out a tad. :D
I only had to move slot it about 3mm or so.
I noticed back when I built that Spectra for Chris that the Carbon was cut REALLY sloppy on that kit.
Maybe you have the same issue on that one?
Only time I have ever had an MA kit like that.

I notice on the drawing in the instructions that the channels that hold the motor have different part numbers. Havent had a chance to look close but wonder if I could swap them end to end and get the room needed. Will have to look at it when I have a minute.

Easy fix....
Call MA and talk to Chris.
You should be able to drop that gear in there will little effort.

I was thinkin it should just go right in.
