I am charging two 3s packs succesfully after a near disasterous mishap.

My question is, how many amps am I able to charge the two 3s packs? I am just doing 2.2 amps as per the spec for one battery.

Am I able to do 4.4amps when two batteries are connected?

I found this post, so I found the answer. 2.2amps.

Actually, I had a second thought on this...

If we have 2 battery packs hooked up and are only able to charge at 2.2amps, then what is the point? We are not able to charge two batteries in the time it takes to do one battery, so there is no real benefit.

Comments?

Well that depends on the charger.

The align RCC-6CX can handle two batteries simutaniously but it only charges one at a time. If you connect two 3s pacs with a Y connector so that the charger sees it as a 6s then you charge two batteries in the same time as it takes to charge one. Even though the amps is the same 2.2 since they are coupled in series you are charging by 22 volts. aka the double of one pack.

You are charging in series, so capacity remains the same, voltage doubles. So if the pack is a 2200 mah pack, then the charge rate is still 2.2 amps, but the voltage is doubled.

Thanks! Sounds good then!
