I have already sent a letter to Gohbee about this and have gotten no response, so I thought I would try here. I was out flying New Years Day when my Gohbee starting rod decided to kill itself. I was starting my motor and when I went to pull the rod out of the cup, it didn't come out. When I pulled up it of course stopped the motor and locked up the clutch. After removing the starting rod from the starter cone, I tried to get it out of the cup. After five minutes of trying to turn the thing back to the correct the position, it finally came out. When I went to see if the rod even fit anymore, the 6mm hex was to small and almost a ball. What I would like to know is, can I send this back to get it replaced. The metal at the end was obviously to soft. No one sells the starting rods with the one way bearings in my area, so this is keeping me from flying. Please Help.
Thanks,
Doug`

If your hex adapter is okay, look for a DuraTrax (I believe) 6mm starter rod for an RC Car and remove your old shaft from the one way (there should be a grub screw)
This should get you going until you can get another correct shaft.
If you were using the adapter with the built in bearings and round shaft that comes with an ARF, this may not be as easy.
Gohbee has been historically quick to answer, given they aren't on vacation.

Doug,
I'll see you on Saturday - I have a 6mm start shaft you can use until you get ahold of David at Gohbee to solve the problem. Call me if you have any questions.

Lamebird,
I'm going to try what you suggested. I'll just buy a starting rod without the one way bearing and put the shaft in my Gohbee one.
Thanks for help,
Doug

I made a start rod just by cutting the short end off of a 6mm ball type allen wrench.
I wear out two of these a year.

That's another option. I used the r/c car starter on a 50 machine when a newbie didn't have his starter, and I didn't have mine.. luckily there was a car guy there that wanted to see it fly.
The starter rod is about 6" long and will/should just clear.

I tried to change out the rods and it won't work. The new rod I bought is just the rod. The Gohbee rod has places for metal clips to clip into. I really don't feal like grinding away at the new rod. I'll just try and use the rod I just bought witout the one-way. Thanks again for all the help.
